5 Hottest Beauty Brands From The NY Makeup Show
This week SheSaid Editor Julia reports from the biggest beauty event in the world, The Makeup Show in New York. These are the 5 hottest beauty brands from the show that you need to know about now.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics
Not only is OCC 100% vegan and cruelty-free, but their products are completely unique. I picked up a Lip Tar which is like a super pigmented lipstick but goes on as a gloss – you only need the tiniest amount. Feels lovely and creamy on, stayed on all day but removed easily with makeup remover. The colour choice is incredible with most colours suiting all skin types.
Eve was mobbed at The NY Makeup Show – in fact this celebrity makeup artist had just flown in from the Cannes Film Festival where she worked with Salma Hayek and Angelina Jolie before the red carpet. Her products are innovative yet simplified and match all skin tones. I particularly loved the concealers which melted into my skin and the HD blushes which every woman needs for instant glow.
This French skincare brand is a cult favourite with makeup artists around the world, renowned for their natural ingredients. I was lucky enough to nab one of their best-selling product before they sold out on the first day, the Lait-Creme Concentre 24-Hour Miracle Cream, which can be used as a primer, moisturiser and makeup remover in 1. Using their products makes me feel like I’ve just had a facial on the Champs Elysees. Very chic.
Available in Australia at scottysmakeup.com.au.
Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics
I’ve raved about Youngblood before so I was thrilled to meet some of the US team and find out about their latest products. The absolute must-have is the Illuminating Body Tint which glides over the skin and gives a subtle shimmer – no chunky glitter – it’s a must for brides, nights out and anytime you want a pick-me-up. Great as a face highlighter too, as demonstrated by their makeup supremo Val Hernandez!
Now this was madness. Imagine hundreds of women all clamouring for one thing: makeup brushes. In all shapes, sizes and finishes. Prices started at $2 but I wondered if they were any good. I spoke with makeup artists who were stocking up by the armful and told me they are amazing. I picked up an angled taklon brush, bronzer brush and concealer brush for $11 and am absolutely loving them!
I’ll be bringing you more news from The Makeup Show from New York this week, so let me know which brands you’re interested in!
