Black proved the trend du jour at this years’ ARIAs on Sunday night. When even the red carpet was black, it was the bolder, colourful red carpet dresses that stood out from the crowd.

Alicia Keys looked fab in a body con neon yellow Stella Mccartney dress. The subtle cutout effect and gold accents was in keeping with Nicole Richie’s similar styling at the AMAs.

Missy Higgins also looked chic in a strong orange hue by Camilla and Marc. The asymmetrical line and prominent ankle strapped heels are very much on trend.

Of those who opted for all black, David Jones Ambassador Jessica Gomes pulled it off best. Again in Dion Lee. I like the hardness and softness of the contrasting panels. The simple ponytail adds a cool elegance.

Bonnie Anderson turned heads (and raised a few eyebrows) in a completely sheer layered tulle skirt with intricate beading embellishment on the neckline and shoulders.

As for digital prints, Female Artist of the Year Jessica Mauboy looked stunning in Josh Goot.

Jules and Guy Sebastian oozed old world charm in Zhivago, ticking all of the style boxes. The multiple ARIA winner is a lucky Guy to have married a stylist!
