4 Easy Ways To Beat Your Sugar Addiction

Addicted to sugar? Less sugar improves your diet, gives you more energy and leaves you with clear, radiant skin. Wean yourself off your sugar habit with these four easy tips.

1. Decrease your daily sugar intake
Use less sugar in your tea and coffee. Start with half a teaspoon less than you usually use and adjust to the taste for three days. Then keep reducing the amount of sugar every three days until you're using less or none.

2. No more soft drinks
Addicted to soft drinks? Try this delicious sugar-free alternative. Take a pitcher and fill with your favourite sparkling water. Slice 2 oranges and 2 lemons or limes and add to the pitcher. Let sit for 15 minutes, then add a handful of ice. Completely refreshing and delicious.

3. Dark chocolate
You might think you don't like dark chocolate but once you consider how much sugar (and fat) is in ordinary milk chocolate you might try dark chocolate again. Try a small square of a quality dark chocolate like Lindt Excellence 70% and let the chocolate melt on your tongue. Just like wine, enjoy savouring the different notes and flavours, and we think you'll be converted.

4. Less refined sugar
Replace refined suar in your diet and cooking with unrefined sweeteners like honey, maple syrup or agave nectar. Most recipes can be easily adapted to use unrefined sugars.
