Dr. Oz's Secret To A Long Marriage? Lots Of Sex

Dr. Oz says the secret to a long and happy marriage isn't difficult: just have more sex! And he should know: the celebrity doctor has been happily married for 26 years.

Revealing what keeps his marriage to radio show host Lisa Oz fresh, the doctor, 51, told Shape magazine that intimacy plays a huge part.

While he recommends having sex “two to three times a week", his wife thinks six times a week is even better! "It’s much harder to reignite a flame once it’s dead. You have to make intimacy a regular part of your life," she explained.

Mrs. Oz also has a refreshingly honest viewpoint on how to get your needs met.

"I’ve come to realise you can’t sit around and wait for the other person to do the things you want to do. If you want him to be more romantic, be more romantic yourself. In other words, light your own damn candles!”

Respect is also very important to their relationship.

"It’s easy to forget to say things like ‘thank you’ and ‘please.’ Sometimes you’re nicer to a complete stranger than you are to your spouse!” says Dr. Oz.

The couple, who have four children, offered another tip for when you're irritated or angry with your partner.

“We fight — a lot — and there are times when we’re bored with each other,” Lisa, 48, shared. She recommends focusing on what you love about your partner instead. “Whenever he’s doing something that’s driving me crazy, I think about one of his traits I absolutely adore."
