Pilates For Better Sex

We all know Pilates is good for your general health, strength and fitness, but did you know that it could greatly improve your sex life too? Pilates expert Tasha Lawton shows us how.

1. How can pilates improve your sex life?
Pilates exercises focus on strengthening and putting us back in touch with our pelvic floor muscles, as well as toning and strengthening our entire body. A tighter, taughter pelvic floor can only mean good things in the bedroom. Your man won't feel as though he's throwing a sausage sideways down the channel tunnel anymore. You'll feel more confident in yourself and as your body tightens and the inches drop away, your self esteem will soar. A magical combination!

2. How often do you need to do Pilates to notice a difference in both your physique and your sex life?
Three times a week is achievable, sustainable and definitely enough to notice a big difference after six weeks.

3. What are your favourite Pilates exercises?
'100s' are my favourite - you may look like a goose doing them but if you want to really feel 'the burn' then you can't go past them!

4. Why is exercising your pelvic floor so important? How do you know if you're doing it right?
It's important on a few levels - no-one likes the feeling of weeing themselves when they laugh, sneeze, cough or run and it will only get lazier over time. It helps you stay centred and as I've already mentioned, can really make a difference to your sex life. Imagine you're having a wee, now try and stop the flow (only for a couple of seconds).

As long as you're not clenching your butt cheeks at the same time, you've hit the right muscles!

5. What other tips do you have to improve your sex life?
Turn off the TV!
Set the scene with candles, music and massage.
Communicate - tell each other what works for you.
Remember that the vagina is secondary to the breasts.
Slow it down.
Use the breath.
Remember, it's not all about the orgasm...

Tasha has created The Pilates for Better Sex DVD which offers a 50-minute medium to high impact class. It is available as a download for $19.99 or as a DVD for $24.99 from www.pregalates.com.
