Get your place ready for Christmas

Just in time for Christmas we have some handy hints on decorating not only the tree but your table, too

The Tree

Christmas isn’t complete without a tree, but why not try something a little different this year and try these great decorating ideas from Dandi. Use some fallen branches from your garden and place them in a vase filled with sand. If you’re not after the natural look, try spray painting the branches to match your colour theme. Or just bring a pot plant inside, anything green will work. Then try tying a few ornaments to the chandelier with different lengths of ribbon. And finally place a large piece of paper on your wall and create an outline of a tree. Get your kids to draw on decorations, get the whole family involved!

The Table

Your table is just as important as the tree. Friends and family will enjoy a delicious meal here, so why not go that extra mile and make the table setting just as yummy!

For a formal setting, always start with your tablecloth. Choose one that matches your colour theme. For extra sophistication layer another tablecloth (Dandi suggests a festive, printed design such as Holly Berry) on top. Fold it in half first and place it on top as a special feature piece. Then you can share the Christmas cheer and show your guests you love them by popping a little Christmas gift at each setting. Why not try the Dandi Treasure Boxes filled with chocolates this year. Use Christmas decorations on the table by tying place names to them and for a large table, place a row of small vases down the centre filled with tea lights. Add some greenery by scattering flower heads around the bases to give it some real christmas cheer! Or for a casual lunch or picnic Dandi’s Holly Berry Christmas placemats and runners are perfect for outdoor entertaining. A handy hint: Wrap your cutlery in paper napkins and tie with ribbon or string to stop the napkins from flying away and cutlery rattling around in the car on the way to your picnic.

Around the Home

Transform your home with into a Christmas wonderland with these simple tips. Collect some old jars and wrap a small strip of Christmas fabric or paper around the outside, place a tea light candle inside. Use them to line a windowsill, on each step or even up the garden path to welcome Christmas guests. Use Christmas fabric or paper to make your own garlands. Maybe even put all your Christmas cards on a pin board for everyone to see. You could always make your own fabric decorations, with the Dandi Fabric Treasure Box kit - easy to make, only requiring a spot of craft glue. To hang on your Christmas tree simply tie a length of ribbon through the centre. Or instead of wrapping your Christmas gifts in paper this year why not use fabric? The material can then be reused time and time again? How's that for being green?
