5 Minutes With Fiona O"e;Loughlin

We all know Fiona O'Loughlin as one of Australia's funniest comedians, but she's also mum to five hungry kids! She tells us which recipe every home cook should master and answers the eternal debate: Vegemite - yay or nay?

1. What's your favorite sandwich for the kids?
My kids love all sorts of sandwiches anything from simple classics like Vegemite and spread on Tip Top white bread to a stacked BLT.

2. ...And what's your favorite grown-up sandwich?
I have to say, I’m a traditional girl at heart and still love a corned Beef and chutney sandwich – one o f my mum’s classics.

3. Vegemite on toast - yay or nay?
Big yay! My kids love Vegemite - they have it on toast, in sandwiches on anything it will lend itself to really!

 4. What can't you live without in your kitchens?
At the moment I am having great fun singing along to my new Tip Top breadbin which I helped to design – it’s great as it means I can now hear when one of the kids is reaching for another slice of bread!

5. What are you looking forward to cooking this summer?
Not so much what I am looking forward to cooking this summer, but eating – I can’t wait for BBQ season to kick in! It’s just such a fun, easy and enjoyable way for the whole family to sit down together and enjoy a meal. With such a big family, there are a lot of hungry mouths to feed – so our BBQ’s tend to take a while!

6. What's one recipe every home cook should master?
I think if you get the classics right then you are on to a winner! Once you have a firm favourite like a sausage sanger in the bag, you will win the hearts and bellies of your family!

7. 'What does 'Good on ya Mum' mean to you?
It’s another way of saying thank you to mums – which sometimes we can forget to do. We all know how much mums do for their little ones but sometimes we forget. It’s a great little jingle that feels as good to say it, as it feels to hear it.
