Nina Coombs Review – PLUS Reader Offer
It’s been almost a year since my last facial, so to say I was looking forward to my visit to Nina Coombs is an understatement. Located on hip Dank St in Sydney’s Waterloo (next to your choice of lunch spots including Fratelli Fresh, Sonoma, The French House and Dank St Depot), Nina’s salon is in a gorgeous, tranquil apartment block without the annoyance of people passing through and phones ringing. The next best thing to having your own private salon!
Nina has been specialising in facials for 15 years and you can tell. She avoids the two things that can put you off going to a beauty salon: the hard sell (“oh your skin is terrible, you have to buy this cream/serum/mask”), and constant chit-chat. Nina assesses all your skin concerns and works out the best course of action. She uses four different skincare lines: Dermalogica, Pevonia Botanica, Nimue Skin Technology and Botanical Extracts. I chose Nimue who specialise in cosmeceuticals to give my skin a real boost.
The facial includes a steam, thorough clean, gentle extraction (no spotty face afterwards!), exfoliation (with divine papaya and orange oil), a serum to brighten and strengthen, rejunvenating mask with super antioxidants and finishes with a hydrater to seal in the moisture. The mask tingles slightly so I know it’s working, and afterwards by skin is so unbelievably soft that I almost can’t stop touching it. While relaxing with the face mask Nina gave me one of the best shoulder massages I’ve ever had, and offers to file my nails. Amazing.
I was really impressed with the Nimue range, and next time, I’ll try Botanical Extracts as I’m a big fan of natural ingredients. A week later and my skin is still glowing, pores are tight and fine lines around my eyes and forehead seem to have taken a holiday. And for this hour of inner city bliss, so do I.
Nina Coombs is offering all SheSaid readers 50% off their first facial until the end of September 2010. Just mention SheSaid when you book!
