Have you been California dreaming? Then, this is the list for you, the top places to visit in this West Coast State with the kids.

Disneyland

First up we have Disneyland, the happiest place on earth is obviously at the top, walking down Main Street will put a smile on your children’s faces and bring back memories of magic and imagination you probably haven’t seen or felt in some time. Walt Disney really knew how to create a Kingdom; each land has its own identity, with rides relating to certain animated classics such as Peter Pan, Snow White, Toy Story, Alice in Wonderland, Aladdin and many more. This will be a day you and your family will remember forever, to make the trip even more special purchase an autograph book from one of the numerous stores around the Kingdom and plan ahead to be at the Disney character meetings. And remember ‘Today’s special moments are tomorrow’s memories’.

SeaWorld

Second on the list is SeaWorld, San Diego, not too big of a drive from Anaheim where Disneyland is situated, if you hire a car, without traffic the journey is close to an hour and a half…but worth it! This marine mammal filled sanctuary will teach you more then you ever knew about creatures of the ocean, watching the impressive animals in shows filled with dancing and tricks. Then, if you are in the mood for a thrill take the helicopter ride for a Wild Artic experience or jump on the flume roller coaster. The day will be a well-spent one, in the sun.

Universal Studios Hollywood

What would be a trip to LA without a day with the stars? Universal Studios Hollywood is the perfect outing for your family to see how the movies are made, with a studio tour taking you behind the scenes to different sets of your favourite’s, you might even catch a glimpse of the most famous and feared animal from the big screen, Jaws, or get caught on a train line with King Kong! Look out!  But the fun doesn’t stop there; characters will be roaming the park all day, and the rides are endless. You can choose to venture into the historical world of Jurassic Park, or condemn yourself into the underground with the Mummies! There is really something for everyone, it a not to be missed attraction.

Knott’s Berry Farm

Lastly is a theme park for the older kids, or shall I say adults but kids at heart? Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park was first opened in 1940 and remains one of top amusement parks in California. It is home to some of the most entertaining rollercoasters due to their height and speed. The most famous is the Silver Bullet, well-known for its appearance in the Seth Rogen film ‘Knocked up’, this thrill trip takes its riders upside down six times at almost 150 feet from ground level. The food is not to be missed either, if you are wanting some classic American greasy dishes, head to the renowned Mrs Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant, here you can find tasty deep fried chicken, US style biscuits and gravy, and a cherry pie for desert. Be sure to make a reservation though, with more than 1.1 million guests annually, this place books up fast!
