The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory.
It’s been less than a month since Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris broke up and Taytay found immediate comfort in a new relationship with Avengers hottie, Tom Hiddleston.
While the world is awaiting yet another Swift breakup song, it looks like Harris may have beat her to it this time. The songwriter is sharing his side of their breakup story in his new track, Olé, set to be released later today.
According to TMZ, the song is full of ‘Hiddleswift’ references – and not the nice kind.
The lyrics hint at Swift cheating on Harris with Hiddleston, and keeping their relationship secret. Lines like “Low key, you won’t tell none of your friends about me,” (‘Low key’ possibly referring to Hiddleston’s Avengers character, Loki) and “You’ve hidden my name in your phone so you can call me to tell me you’ve been going through hell,” might be vague, but very applicable to the artists’ recent breakup followed by Swift’s very public new relationship just days after splitting from Harris.
Swift has been traveling a lot with Hiddleston in the past few weeks, first taking him to meet her parents in Nashville, then meeting his parents in England, and finally celebrating the biggest 4th of July bash ever at Swift’s home in Rhode Island, all while openly sharing their love in various social media snaps. So even if the above lyrics don’t convince you Harris’s new song is about Swift, these lines just might.
“I see online that you begun to be a good girl and take trips with your boyfriend. Being attentive, continue to pretend…”
Yep, we’re pretty sure Harris is talking about his recent heartbreak experience here, and even if he isn’t, he knows very well the world will interpret Olé as a breakup-revenge song. We wonder how Swift feels about this? We’re guessing we won’t have to wait much longer till she shares her side of the story in a new song, too…
