Daylesford Decadence At Hepburn Springs And Spa

What better way to beat the winter blues than a visit to Daylesford and Hepburn Springs, just 90 minutes from Melbourne? From High Tea to the ultimate bathhouse experience, this is the ultimate in relaxation and pampering!

High Tea under the Arches at Peppers Hepburn Springs

For something really special, treat yourself to the High Tea at Peppers and be prepared to be blown away by the taste sensations presented in front of you. Recalling the glamour of a by-gone era,  Peppers Mineral Springs Retreat serves High Tea under The Arches, in the picturesque setting under the iconic 1930’s arches of this heritage country hotel. Settle into the deep cane armchairs and relax over beautiful petit fours, delectable bite-sized sandwiches, piping hot, freshly baked scones with double whipped cream and homemade jams – all elegantly presented on tiered cake stands.

The chocolate marquise, baby lemon meringue tarts and orange cake were just a few of our favourites. This idyllic rural retreat is perfect for relaxing, pampering and enjoying fantastic food and wines. The afternoon tea dishes like the rest of the food at Wild Birch Restaurant at Peppers are inventive and creative and determined to use as much local produce in their dishes as possible. Beware High Tea Under the Arches is only served Saturday and Sundays, 2.30pm–5pm so you had better book ahead!

Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa

About an hour and a half drive from Melbourne is a sanctuary of relaxation at the Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa. Built originally in 1894 and fully refurbished in 2008 this is now a world-class facility, something you will not find anywhere else in Australia. It draws mineral waters directly from the springs to offer a unique spa and bathhouse experience. The recent renovation cost $13 million and it looks like money well spent.

Floor to ceiling glass with a variety of mineral pools and spas, steam rooms and salt water pools, the Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa needs to be seen to be believed! And entry is only $25 per person allowing you to stay up to 2 hours, but “splash out” – literally! – and pay $55 for the Sanctuary Package, allowing you access to the whole mineral spa experience including the monsoon showers, spa couches and salt water pools. You will experience traditional communal bathing (don’t worry everyone wears bathers!) and you can select from the mineral relaxation pool in the Bathhouse or opt for the salt therapy pool, spa couches and steam room in The Sanctuary.

Just relax and allow the healing properties of warm mineral waters to soothe away all your stresses, leaving you relaxed and rejuvenated. Best $55 you will have spent in a long time!
