When I woke up to hear the news that Prof Chris O'Brien had passed away I had a little cry. I was so devastated that such a good man could be taken away so early, it's just unfair.

They held a state funeral for the RPA doctor today at Sydney's St Mary's Cathedral and a former patient of his, Paul Cave, said this which I just had to share because it is so true:

"Chris reached into people, not only did he cut out the bad bits but he put some good bits back in. You actually thought that he had transplanted some of himself in to you."

What an amazing man he was.

I agree...I am an avid follower of RPA, and that man was golden. He went above and beyond what doctors are about, and you only wish more doctors were more concientious like him. I had a little cry when I heard he had gotten brain cancer..you know when they announced it on RPA...And to find he had passed was extremely sad...He has touched so many people, and fought for a beautiful wing in the hospital..:D The world was a better place because of such a wonderful person...My love to his family friends and work colleagues

Yes great man, but hopefully we move ahead in his memory and honour, as i did when my wife died, after finding out about this great cancer treatment only available overseas. So I set up a group petitioning the Gov't to get this non invasive, quick, painless, drug free, side effect free cancer treatment here. We have over 500 members now and a petition to send to nicola roxon to act NOW. Check it out

I agree with ash. I had 9 brain tumours and given no hope in Australia. Went to USA for Cyberknife and cleared all of my tumours with no drugs, side effects or surgery and in only 2 days of treatment. Treats other cancer also, is available in most countires at over 200 hospitals but not here. Join the Facebook group, see videos of it, chat with others and sign the petition

I posted here in 2009. Now some 3 yrs later we have 4000 members wishing to access better treatment options for cancer in Australia. Cybeknife has been given approval and Peter Mac in Melb were to get it but the new Govt started cost cutting and the project was halted. I still help people get this overseas in the meantime. I have also released a book about our journey with cancer and treatments as well as some stories with Oprah, Jamie Lee Curtis, Patrick Swayze and others. My book is available thu Amazon

We had success this week. The Sir Charles Gardiner hospital in Perth is building a cancer centre that will offer Cyberknife next year. The 1st in Australia. WA Cancer Centre will be the first department in Australia to offer Cyberknife treatments to patients. The Cyberknife unit will be installed in 2013 when the new WA Cancer Centre is opened. The Cyberknife ia a robotic radiosurgery unit whic
h means it constantly tracks the position of the target site and corrects for any movement. It us used to treat targets that move with a high level of precisions to areas usually not treated by traditional SRS such as lung and prostate.

It took 3 yrs but they finally agreed. Great news for cancer care in Oz.
