Should children be allowed in bars?

News.com.au is reporting that Anisa Duniam, 27, was asked to leave the upstairs wine bar Das Zimmer at Salamanca on Friday at 5.30pm because her 10-month-old baby Hugo did not fit with their adults-only house policy.

She's up in arms about it but what do you think? Should have she been allowed to stay?

I tend to agree with the bar! They are responsible for people in it and if anyone was to accidentally spill a drink on the baby etc then it would be their fault. It's the law, not discrimination.

There are plenty of other places she could go to have a drink with friends as well! Wine bars on a Friday night can get very busy so I think the staff were just being responsible.

I don't believe babies should be allowed in bars.Alcohol and babies do not mix.

Just not on...For A baby or young child this is really not an appropriate place to take them at all. I have no idea why she is so peturbed....It is highly irresponsible to drink alcohol when you are the one responsible for the care of your child for that day/evening etc. Anything could happen, and I agree with the bar.

pubs, no matter what sort are NO places for kids to be around unless it is for a meal. Kids are to impressionable and learn far to quickly these days. Really' it's also nice to have time out from little ones as well

I don't believe a child should be taken into a public place where alcohol is consumed. You are exposing your child to any nasty things that can arise. Isn't this what baby sitters are for if you want to go out. I understood the law did not allow minors into these adult venues. Time this mother grew up!

I agree with the bar staff, she should'nt be in the
bar with a baby. She should've got a babysitter! Surely
she had friends or relatives who could have minded the
baby for her, so she could go out to a bar!

A bar is no place for a child unless it is in the dining room in which you are enjoying a meal with others. A child should not be held while you are consuming food or drinks and should not be allowed to be in the way of staff or patrons. It is the reponsibility of the licensee if the child is injured or causes injury to others, therefore you can be refused entry.

seriously is that even a question...i know socialising is important...but is drinking in a bar important with 10 month old in tow..think again Anisa..I am a mother and sometimes just need to get away from the chaos...but seriously..be a lil responsible
