I don’t want to panic anyone, but Christmas is coming! In fact, at the time of writing this – it’s just under two months away – but party season is well and truly upon us.
Now, if you’re anything like me, you leave the Christmas cooking until the last minute, or to your husband (cocktails are my thing, the making and the consuming).
And while the Christmas party season can be an extremely fun and debaucherous time, it can also wreak havoc on even the best healthy eating plan. Never fear, help is at hand thanks to raw food enthusiasts Raw Blend, who are striving to educate Australians on how to incorporate raw foods into their diets.
A family-owned and run Brisbane business, Raw Blend promotes the importance of eating nutrient-dense, plant-based foods because of the healing benefits. Their mission is to stress the importance of eating a variety of fresh whole foods to help fight chronic disease and illness, says Raw Blend national sales manager Tommy Nicholas.
“A raw food diet can dramatically increase your nutrient intake, your energy level and help you lose or maintain an ideal weight,” Tommy says. “Personally, raw foods make me feel better, look better and I have loads more energy to get me through my action-packed day!”
Below is a sinfully sweet, yet healthy Raw Choc-Cherry recipe from the good people at Raw Blend, which you can snack on now, or add to your Christmas cooking list.
“This is one my favourite treats when I’m craving a sweet fix!” Tommy says. “Not only is it delicious and easy to make, but it’s super nutritious compared to all the pre-packaged, processed junk foods on the market around Christmas time.
“Cherries, cacao, pistachio nuts and coconut – what’s not to love about that combination? Raw Choc Cherry will surely be a crowd pleaser at any festive occasion.”
