Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed she used to do Botox but stopped using it because it made her look crazy.
The 40-year old admitted to using anti-ageing injections in the May issues of US Harper’s Bazaar.
“I’ll try anything. Except I won’t do Botox again, because I looked crazy,” she said. “I looked like Joan Rivers!”
Instead, the Oscar winner says she recently turned to Thermage laser treatment, despite describing it as being “quite painful.”
“It feels like someone’s smacking your face with a rubber band that has an electric shock in it,” she said.
“But I would do it again, because I feel like it took five years off my face.”
She also describes her beauty routine: “I really used to be bad with products, but I exfoliate every night and use a lot of organic oils” and lists the Sonya Dakar line of skincare products as some of her favourites.
Paltrow, who just released her second cookbook, It’s All Good, admits to not letting go of one guilty pleasure – smoking one cigarette a week.
“My one light American Spirit that I smoke once a week, on Saturday night.”
She’s come under fire for It’s All Good, being mocked as the $300-a-week cookbook because of the rare and expensive ingredients it promotes, while also appearing contradictory espousing an organic lifestyle while indulging in high-end anti-ageing treatments.
“I think it’s a mix. You know, I use organic products, but I get lasers. It’s what makes life, finding the balance between cigarettes and tofu.”
