Gwyneth Paltrow’s Christmas Gift Guide
Christmas is only weeks away and if you’re still searching for what to get your loved ones, look no further than Gwyneth Paltrow’s annual gift guide.
If you’re already raising eyebrows – keep them raised. Gwynie’s gift guide is as out of touch with normal people – and the current economy – as you’d suspect.
The gift guide, sent out today in her weekly newsletter, starts off sweetly enough: “A personalized gift is always such a delight … a beautiful tea towel with a hand-embroidered initial that you’ve done yourself, a photo on a coffee mug, a leather bag—anything personally made for you always trumps other gifts because of the thought and organization put into it.”
(Photo on a coffee mug? Could you imagine Gwyneth down at her local Wal-Mart printing off mugs and calendars? Maybe Chris Martin will get a personalised mouse mat this year?
But then it turns into a gush fest for gifts that are mostly way beyond the reach of the average person, such as a personalised paperweight for $68 (who uses a paperweight these days?), the above iPhone pocket journal (we’re not even sure what that is exactly) for $372 or a framed canvas of your kid’s artwork starting at $750.
From the sublime (these personalised girl’s hairclips are pretty cute, and a steal at $14.95) to the ridiculous – Louis Vuitton monogrammed luggage which is literally priceless – but if you have to ask the price you probably can’t afford it (and then are you really subscribing to Gwyneth’s newsletter?).
