While not necessarily a life-threatening condition, the humble hangover has reduced many of us to brain-dead, dehydrated messes more times that you?d care to forget. There are many folk remedies designed to make you feel better in your darkest hour, ranging from the sublime (keep drinking) to the ridiculous (raw egg).The morning after the night before can be a real headache ? literally! The liver has to process alcohol and large amounts of alcohol will cause acute inflammation of the liver.

Typical symptoms of a hangover are –

Nausea and vomiting

Diarrhoea

Headaches which may be severe

Dehydration

Foggy brain syndrome

Hangover Recovery Juice

  • 1 medium carrot
  • 1 medium apple, skin on
  • 2 slices watermelon, with some white pith
  • 1 medium orange
  • 1 medium grapefruit (unless you cannot cope with the slightly acid taste
  • 2cm slice beetroot
  • 2 fresh dandelion leaves or 2 cabbage leaves

Wash, trim and chop, and pass through the juicer. Drink 1 small glass on retiring. Drink another when you wake up, and continue to drink small glasses (100 to 200mls) every hour. Make sure that you drink plenty of water as well.
