How To Get Sexy Bouncy Party Hair

“This look is big, sexy 60’s party hair, with lots of volume and height at the crown,” says celebrity hairdresser Oscar Cullinan. “For retro inspiration look towards Barbarella or Bridget Bardot or for a more modern celebrity spin on this style look to Drew Barrymore and Beyonce who are also fans of this go-go 60s hairstyle.”

Follow Oscar’s guide to achieving this look at home:

This hair is all about volume so prepping the hair with volumising products is a must! I like to use a a good volumising mousse through the mid-lengths and ends, such as Aveda Phomollient Styling Foam and also a good product to give you lift and hold at the roots, such as Aveda Volumising Tonic.

The next step is to blowdry your hair and the easiest way to do this at home with maximum volume is to tip your head upside down and blowdry your hair until it is completely dry, as this will give you great lift at the roots. When blowdrying focus on brushing your hair away from yoru scalp for maximum lift.

Next clip your your hair into four separate parts so that it is easy to manage. Then taking small sections of approximately 3 cm, wind your hair around hot rollers. It is easier if you start at the nape of your neck and work up. When using rollers on your crown, have the rollers run directly through the middle of your crown and rolled away from your face for the best result.

Once the hot rollers have cooled lightly spray your hair with Aveda Control Force firm hold hairspray before you remove the rollers.

Once the rollers are removed gently brush the ends and mid-lengths of your hair.

Finish the look by back-combing sections of your crown area for added height and again spray with a strong hold hair spray such as Aveda Control Force to keep your hair big and beautiful for any event!
