Well, that was unexpected…

Yes, it’s true. Our beloved Instagram has, in fact, been upgraded.

On Wednesday, the US based social media app replaced the original vintage camera logo with one that represents a much simpler camera, backed by a rainbow gradient.

‘The Instagram community has evolved over the past five years from a place to share filtered photos to so much more — a global community of interests sharing more than 80 million photos and videos every day,’ read the caption to the revealing photo on Instagram.


‘Our updated look reflects how vibrant and diverse your storytelling has become.’

However, not many Instagram users are as enthusiastic about the update, and have taken to Twitter to show their disappointment…




Some users have spoken out on the resemblance the new logo has to Microsoft Powerpoint.

And because it’s the internet, it didn’t take long to move to sex…

After hours of backlash, Instagram finally posted a photo with a much greater back story.


Mmm… say what you want Instagram, we’re still pretty sure you stole this from Powerpoint.
