The Great Kate Wait it over! The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, has given birth to a baby boy!
The Palace has confirmed that Kate, 31, gave birth to the little prince weighing 8 lbs., 6 oz. at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, also 31, was by her side.
Kate and the baby “are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight,” reads the official statement. And the proud father Prince William said “we could not be happier.”
Kate went into labour just before 6am Monday London time (3pm Monday EST), and was taken from Kensington Palace where she lives with William, to St. Mary’s Hospital, a short drive away. Kate was in labour for just over 10 hours.
St. Mary’s is the same hospital where William and his brother Prince Harry, 28, were born.
The new arrival is third in line to the throne, following granddad Prince Charles, 64, and father William.
Congratulations to Kate and William!
