There is no rest for the wicked, especially the wicked in the fashion industry. And so after the latest trends debuted in New York, the shows continued across the big pond at London Fashion Week. The British capital is the home of some of the most popular designer labels of the moment, including Christopher Kane, Maria Katrantzou, and Burberry Prorsum.

Known for its more edgy fashion compared to other fashion weeks, London didn’t disappoint, showing bold prints and lots of colour on the runways. There were four trends in the autumn/winter collections that most designers seemed to agree on:

1. Turtlenecks:

Primarily reserved for geeks in high school, turtleneck sweaters might have a major comeback next season. They sure keep you warm and the good news is – if Jonathan Saunders’ collection is anything to go by – there will be silk turtlenecks which are not only super chic, but also perfect for warmer weather.

2. Vinyl Pants

This is not for the timid, but shiny vinyl and lamé pants were seen on numerous runways in London, reminding us of some horrible outfits we wore in the 90s. The blue and green colour might make this an even harder trend to pull off, but paired with neutrals it can be a bold yet classy fashion statement.

3. Black

You cannot go wrong with head-to-toe black. In order for it not to be boring, though, combine different fabrics and textures or show a bit of leg as seen on Simone Rochas’ runway.

4. Embroidery

It was all in the details at Peter Pilotto and Burberry Prorsum. Clothes were adorned with stitched patterns and gems, making jewellery an unnecessary accessory. So forget the statement necklace next season and invest in an embroidered statement dress instead.
