Madonna Swept Away by lawsuit
Unknown, self-proclaimed singer, songwriter, director and actor Vincent D’Onofrio (no, not the kooky hunk that plays Goran in Law and Order: Criminal Intent) has launched a $10 million dollar lawsuit against Madonna and her husband, director Guy Ritchie, for allegedly stealing the idea for their remake of Swept Away in 2002. Reports from the US reveal that the superstar pair will have to front court in early May to defend the charges. If anyone deserves compensation, it should surely be those who coughed up the ticket price to see what has gone down as one of the worst films in recent movie history. D’Onofrio must be mad to want to have his name associated with arguably the worst film made in 2002.
Anyone for an ugly green ogre?
If you loved the first Shrek then you’ll be shrieking with joy that the sequel, Shrek 2, is on its way. Due for release in the States in May, the follow-up should be with us in late winter. For those of us that fell for the animated ogre, good news is that he will be back again voiced by Mike Myers as well as his love interest and princess bride Fiona, voiced by Cameron Diaz. The pair will travel to meet her parents, with their pal Donkey (Eddie Murphy) along for the ride. Julie Andrews and John Cleese join the voice cast as Shrek’s disapproving in-laws, and Antonio Banderas provides the voice of crafty cat Puss-in-Boots! Definitely look out for at the cinemas this year!
Babs makes us laugh
Rumour has it Babs aka Barbara Streisand might be taking to the silver screen once again, but this time trying out the comic role of Mrs Focker in Ben Stiller‘s new comedy Meet the Fockers. The movie is a sequel to the 2000 hit Meet the Parents, which starred Stiller, Teri Polo, Robert De Niro and Blythe Danner. It has already been confirmed that Dustin Hoffman will be playing Mr Focker in the sequel.
Only in America
Only in America would a seven-stone woman be crowned the chicken wing-eating champ of the world! Believe it or not, a seven-stone woman has beaten a 29-stone challenger by munching her way through 167 chicken wings in 32 minutes. Sonya ‘Black Widow’ Thomas beat Ed ‘Cookie’ Jarvis by just two wings to triumph in the Philadelphia Wing Bowl XII. Thousands of people turned out to watch the contest, which was eventually decided after two minutes of extra time. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports defending champion Bill Simmons could only manage third place with 151 wings. The Black Widow 36, of Virginia admitted to started eating competitively while working in a Burger King. Her track record includes eating 23 pork sandwiches in 12 minutes, seven 12-ounce hamburgers in 10 minutes, 43 tacos in 11 minutes, and 65 hard-boiled eggs in six minutes and 40 seconds. Second-placed Jarvis, from New York, holds world records for eating 21 cannoli in six minutes and 91 Chinese dumplings in eight minutes. Now we know we don’t want to sit next to them at a family gathering! These guys sound like they would give the Klumps a run for their money!
