Madonna is about to launch her first children’s clothing range. But don’t expect to see cone-shaped bras.

Designed with daughter Lourdes, the Material Girl range covers children’s clothing, jewellery and handbags and will be sold exclusively at US department store Macy’s.

Madonna says her 13-year-old daughter brought much of her own personal style to the collection. “I think this line is absolutely an extension of her taste.

“We like to combine a plaid or a flannel with a lace or leather with lace or rhinestones. So we mix and match textures and fabrics and elements that are both masculine and feminine.”

The range includes plenty of throwbacks to early-80’s Madonna – checked bustiers, a black oversized jacket with polkadot lining, and even fingerless gloves.

The ‘Celebration’ singer recently revealed Lourdes regularly takes clothes from her own wardrobe and styles them in ways she wouldn’t think of.

She said: “It’s weird because my closet doesn’t really have that much of that look so she’s somehow figured out a way to do it on her own… thrift shops and taking bits and pieces from her favourite stores… stealing stuff from my closet and she creates this look that is her own, but also influenced by the early ’80s and the way that I used to dress, so I think it’s in the DNA.”

The Material Girl clothing range will be priced $12 to $40 and hits stores on August 3.
