Oprah Winfrey Breaks Down Over Those Lesbian Rumours

Oprah Winfrey has given one of her most emotional interviews ever, addressing those lesbian rumous that have been around for years, including her relationship with best friend Gayle King.

“I’m not a lesbian. I’m not even kind of a lesbian,” Oprah told Barbara Walters in a new interview on America’s ABC. “And the reason why [the rumour] irritates me is because it means that somebody must think I’m lying. That’s number one. Number two…why would you want to hide it? That is not the way I run my life.”

The 56-year-old, who yesterday touched down in Queensland’s Hamilton Island to start her week-long tour of the country, has been in a relationship with businessman Stedman Graham since 1986. Many have dismissed him as a cover for her secret love life but Oprah insisted their love was genuine.

“Yes. (He’s) the love, the lover, the man, the mate (in my life).

“I cannot say that I know of another man on this planet who could have lived this life with such dignity, such grace and such respect and humility and still hold his own and be his own.”

The talkshow queen broke down in the interview when talking about King, her best friend of many years and who the rumours centered around.

“She is…the mother I never had. She is…the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves. I don’t know a better person. I don’t know a better person,” Winfrey said choking up.

“It’s making me cry because I’m thinking about…how much…I probably have never told her that. Tissue, please. I now need tissues. I’ve never told her that.”

While her 300-strong audience arrived on Tuesday, Oprah’s itinerary is mostly a secret, but yesterday she cuddled a koala and spoke about trying Vegemite. “I intend to try anything that’s not crawling! So Vegemite doesn’t crawl, I will be trying it.”
