Say hello to pepped up skin.
Who doesn’t love a good face mask? There’s something so oddly satisfying about slathering on a thick paste of creamy goodness and sitting back for 15 minutes trying not to move to prevent cracks in the drying mask. Sheet masks make the application easier, but it’s even harder to move or talk without them falling off. As a result, masks force us to sit back and relax as the magic happens on our skin – what’s not to love about that?
There’s no denying the fact the face mask market has absolutely exploded in the last year. It seems like there’s a face mask for every skin type and concern around now; whether it’s acne, large pores, wrinkles, dryness or oiliness you’re stressing about – a mask will (apparently) fix it.
But of course there are good face masks, and then there are ah-maaazing life-changing face masks: the kind that seriously match up to the professional facials you have to fork out big bucks for at a salon or Medispa. So to save you the effort of scouring the shelves for the winning ones, we did the (very difficult) job of testing tons of different products this week to round up the crème de la crème of at-home masks. Here are the ones that you should actually invest in…
Linda Meredith Oxygen Mask
“This sheet mask is the perfect pick-me-up after a night out. It’s infused with Hyaluronic Acid which helps plump the skin and leaves it rejuvenated and refreshed. The sheet is very thin making it comfortable on the skin, which felt smooth and hydrated after 15 minutes.” –Nadine, beauty editor
“I loved this face mask! It was really cooling and gave a refreshing tingle, and made my skin bright and clean whilst also evening out my skin tone so much that I didn’t have to wear makeup for two days after using it. As a bonus, my boyfriend kept smelling my face for hours afterwards because it smelt so good.” –Kassi, junior writer
Nuxe White Brightening Perfecting Mask
Skin Physics Superlift 3D Deep Hydration Lifting Mask
“Considering this is just a sheet mask, it does a pretty impressive job of tightening and lifting the skin. I used it on my big, round, puffy morning face and my face was noticeable de-bloated and tighter afterwards. It’s definitely a go-to for me now.” –Nadia, editor
Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask
“Clay masks are a must for people with large pores and acne-prone skin; unfortunately they can feel quite rough and smell a bit like mud – but not this Charlotte Tilbury clay mask. Not only does it smell divine, but it also has a super smooth texture. My skin literally absorbed most of the thick layer I applied and felt deeply nourished afterward.” –Nadine
Lit From Within Mecca Cosmetica Brightening Hydrogel Sheet Mask
“This mask not only made my face look and feel amazing, but I loved the convenience of it. It stuck on my face really securely, making it easy to move around and do things for 15 minutes while it worked its magic, leaving me glowing afterward.” –Kassi
Lancôme Blanc Expert
“This has got to be my fave sheet mask ever. It’s a thicker, but super smooth material that feels cooling and hydrating on the skin. Fifteen minutes in, I massaged the serum residue into my skin and couldn’t believe how soft my skin felt – it was like having baby’s skin again.” –Nadine
Sukin Detox Face Mask
“This mask is all-natural, which is really important to me, as I try to avoid chemicals wherever possible, and it really does what it promises. My skin was noticeably clearer and my pores unclogged post-use. The formula itself smells so good and is super luxurious to apply too, making it a real winner.” –Nadia
