Just being aware of your tendency to procrastinate is the first step in sorting things out. Once you have identified what stops you, list everything that is playing on your mind. Now, rather than prioritising things into A or B’s, or 1 and 2’s, which is a bit of a drag (and another distraction technique from actually doing it) create two headings: FUN and NOT SO FUN.
Now make a note in your diary for when you will do the FUN things over the next month. One step at a time, don’t pile it all on a Saturday, place 1-2 tasks daily.
The next step is to grab the NOT SO FUN list and slot them into your diary. Can you delegate it to someone else, can you ask your partner or friend to come along with you? Think of a way to make it enjoyable. There has to be a way. Remember, ‘Where there is a will there is a way’
These steps are designed to break down the process of re-organising your time, and alleviate the inevitable by making ‘jobs’ simple and fun. Once you have got all your chores completed you will have room in your life to do the things you love to do. Enjoy the ride!
