Tina Turner has married her long-term partner Erwin Bach in Switzerland.
Turner, 73, tied the knot with Bach, 57, a German record company executive, in a civic ceremony on the shores of Lake Zurich.
The couple are also planning a Buddhist ceremony this weekend in Zurich, where Turner has lived for the last 15 years. And it looks to be a star-studded affair, with Oprah, David Bowie, singer Sade and about 120 guests due to attend.
Turner will be wearing a gown designed by Giorgio Armani, and she has asked all guests to wear white.
The singer was previously married to Ike Turner from 1962 until their divorce in 1976. In her memoir she revealed years of spousal abuse. Ike died in 2008 of a cocaine overdose.
In 2000 the adorable couple spoke out about their relationship and why they didn’t see the need to get married.
“We are married – we just haven’t walked down the aisle, and until there’s a need to, we probably won’t,” Turner said back then.
Bach agreed: “We don’t need a marriage to be together. Some people need that security thing, but I think if you’re internally happy with your partner, you don’t need symbols.”
Congratulations to the happy couple!
