From the wedding of the year, to the passing of a much-loved superstar, 2011 has been a huge year for the A-list. Roll up your sleeves and jump into the year’s biggest celebrity stories!

1. The death of Amy Winehouse

Many expected Amy Winehouse to leave us too early, but it was nevertheless an incredible shock when it happened on 23 July at her home in London due to alcohol poisoning.

2. Kim Kardashian’s whiplash marriage

Even the cynics amongst us thought Kim Kardashian’s $20 million wedding to basketball player Kris Humphries on 20 August was the real deal. So it was a spit in the face when the reality TV star announced she was getting a divorce – 72 days later. But the good news is she says she still believes in love. Hmm.

3. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s love child

On 9 May Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger separated after 25 years’ marriage, following the revelation that The Terminator had fathered a love child with their housekeeper. Joseph, now 14, was born one week after Shriver gave birth to their youngest son, Christopher.

4. Beyonce announces she’s pregnant

And boy, did she do it in style! Performing at the MTV VMAs, the 30-year-old unbuttoned her jacket and revealed the baby bump, telling the crowd “I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside me!” while hubbie Jay-Z cheered with pride. She’s due in February.

5. The Royal wedding

Millions watched as Prince William married Kate Middleton on 29 April – mostly for the dress, which overwhelmingly got the thumbs up (although her makeup was less successful). But the wedding of the year almost got foreshadowed by a bottom – Kate’s sister and bridesmaid Pippa’s bottom (which has its own Facebook page).

6. The other Kate gets married

Perpetual party girl Kate Moss married long-time love Jamie Hince of The Kills in July, wearing a gorgeous vintage lace dress by disgraced designer John Galliano.

7. The Beckhams welcome a baby girl

Cute-as-a-button Harper Seven Beckham joined big brothers Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz on 10 July. And she hasn’t left her parents’ side, accompanying Victoria to fashion weeks and cheering on David at football matches.

8. Demi Moore leaves Ashton Kutcher

“As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life,” announced Demi Moore on 18 November as she confirmed the end of her six-year marriage to Ashton Kutcher. Her statement all but concedes to rumours Ashton cheated on Demi, on the night of their sixth wedding anniversary, no less.

10. We lose Elizabeth Taylor

They just don’t make them like Elizabeth Taylor anymore. Gorgeous, feisty, talented, she mesmerised the world just as she did her eight husbands. The legend passed away on 23 March, aged 79.
