Top 10 chick Flicks of All Time
Chick flicks used to be something we secretly loved but publicly refused to acknowledge but no longer! Now they’re kicking butt, getting respect, and grossing huge at the box offices. From weepy romances to action to tomb-raiding adventures, these films show us who we are, where we’ve been, what we can take, and better yet, what we can dish out.
Make me feel? Make me cry? Make me think? 3 questions my man would rather not contemplate after a night at the movies. The other thing that chicks love is a good de-brief, as in one of our favourite Seinfeld episodes where Elaine, Jerry and George discuss a movie they have just been to see and Jerry announces the de-brief is the best part of the night for him! Me too! Us chicks love a good robust discussion about perspective, character analysis or even more common character assasination (“I would never have done that to him/her”) itsn’t it all part of the cinematic expirience?
Nowadays they are more than likely referred to as Rom-Coms or romantic comedies (with mis-matched lovers or female relationships), tearjerkers and gal-pal films. Our Top 10 Chick flicks are movies about family crises and emotional catharsis, some traditional ‘weepies’ and fantasy-action adventures, sometimes with foul-mouthed and empowered females, and female bonding situations involving families, mothers, daughters and children. Oh our kinda heaven! Check out our list and tell us your favourite chick flick…
