Scarlett Johansson recently said the secret to her glowing skin costs $2 from the grocery store – so we tried it everyday for 2 weeks. What is it and does it work?

Turns out it is just ordinary apple cider vinegar, and the gorgeous actress can’t live without it for healthy, radiant skin.

“A while back, I started researching natural skincare,” she told Elle UK last month. “It’s a nice way to treat your skin if you don’t want to use all those harsh chemicals that a dermatologist would recommend.”

Johansson added, “If your skin is problematic or you’re having a lot of breakouts, it’s really healing. It’s a little bit stinky but if you’re not sleeping over at your boyfriend’s, it’s really effective!”

So we tried it everyday and we have to say – it really does work!

After a particularly bad blemish refused to go away, I dabbed it with a little apple cider vinegar and the next morning, it was virtually gone. After that, I was hooked.

It’s so easy to use: simply cleanse the skin with a gentle cleanser, then pour a small amount of apple cider vinegar on a cotton bud and swipe over the face. Let it dry. That’s it!

I prefer to use it at night as like ScarJo says, it is a little stinky in a vinegary way so you don’t want to leave the house smelling like a well-dressed salad. I’ve also tried cleansing my skin in the shower, applying the vinegar, then rinsing it off, but I didn’t find that as effective as leaving it on at night.

I recommend starting off using it every other night to get your skin used to it, and building it up to nightly. Best of all, a big bottle costs only $2 and lasts a long time!
