It pays to be a young celebrity! Lady Gaga is Forbes’ richest celebrity under 30, earning about $US80 million ($86 million) in the last year alone.

And she would have made even more had she not had to cancel her Born This Way Ball tour early in the year due to a serious hip injury.

Lady Gaga (real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta), 27, beat Justin Bieber, 19, who earned $US58 million ($62 million), largely through concerts and business deals including fragrances and licensing.

Her wealth shows no sign of waning either, with Forbes expecting her upcoming album ARTPOP, due in November, to be such a huge hit that she will stay on top of the rich list next year.

Seven of the top 10 highest earners under 30 are women, including Taylor Swift (in third place), Rihanna, Katy Perry, Adele, Jennifer Lawrence and Kristen Stewart. DJ and producer Calvin Harris and Taylor Lautner round out the top 10 list.
