Getting high once a month just might be the answer to dealing with your period pain.

If flights to California skyrocket in the next few weeks, it’s because Whoopi Goldberg and Maya Elisabeth have launched a line of medicinal-marijuana menstrual-relief products, so far only available in the Golden State.

The line includes edibles, tinctures, topical rubs and a “profoundly relaxing” bath soak, all aimed to help women get through that time of the month without feeling crippled by cramps and pain.

Goldberg had the idea for a cannabis-containing PMS product after she experienced great relief from severe headaches whenever she used her cannabis vape pen.

“I have grown granddaughters who have severe cramps, so I said this is what I want to work on,” the actor said.

She then got in touch with Elisabeth, an award-winning creator of medicinal cannabis products, and developed their product line, Whoopi & Maya. In contrast to painkillers, Goldberg says the list of ingredients in her products is straightforward so women understand exactly what’s in them.

Whether the products actually work remains uncertain, with San Francisco-based ob-gyn Dr Jennifer Gunter arguing they “may be nothing more than expensive placebos” as there is no substantial research proving the link between marijuana and pain relief.

However, Gunter does note the dose of THC (the muscle-relaxing compound in marijuana) in Whoopi & Maya’s chocolate spread is definitely high enough to give marijuana newbies a euphoric effect and therefore temporarily relieve their pain.

One thing is for sure, though: Goldberg and Elisabeth definitely caught our attention and curiosity. If their products actually work, it could be life-changing for women. Anybody want to go to Cali with us?

Comment: Are your cramps bad enough that you would consider taking marijuana to ease them?
