1. Talk to yourself

Tell yourself simple statements, like “I’m going to be ok” or “things are good” and then take a deep breath. You can say it in your head or vocalise it. you don’t feel comfortable talking to yourself, write the sentiments on Post-It notes and pin them to your bathroom mirror while you’re getting ready for work, or inside your cupboard door.

2. Take a brisk walk

Getting your heart rate up is one of the easiest ways of reducing stress fast. You don’t have to be a gym junkie, taking a brisk walk – around the block at lunchtime, or walking home one bus stop earlier – will invigorate you, as will the fresh air.

3. Go to sleep half an hour earlier

Sleep is one of the best cure-alls for stress. Make an effort to hit the sack 30 minutes earlier than usual, and you’ll wake up feeling more rested, and confident in tackling the day ahead. If you can’t fall asleep easily, pop a night mask on, or some quiet, relaxing music to help you nod off.
