5 Low-Carb Snacks To Keep You Going All Day

We all get the 3.30pm munchies, but instead of chips or chocolate, we’ve got 5 completely delicious but healthy snacks that will keep you going all afternoon.

Peanut butter and celery

Fill the cavity of a few celery stalks with low-fat peanut butter (or almond butter) and you’ve got one tasty, low-carb snack that takes no time to prepare.

Cottage cheese

Don’t roll your eyes: cottage cheese has so many delicious possibilities you’re sure to come up with one flavour combination that you’ll be snacking on every day. Stir through Chia seeds, a dash of spicy Moroccan paste or a spoonful of pesto, then use home-made lavash chips or sliced fruit as a scoop instead of high-fat chips.

Greek yoghurt

Thick Greek yoghurt is low in GI so you’ll stay full all afternoon, but it’s also high in protein which is ideal for a pre-or post-exercise snack.


You love them at the sushi bar, but edamame also make the perfect snack anytime, sprinkled with a little salt. Stock up at the Asian market in the freezer section and then just microwave them for 1 minute.

Mixed nuts

Walnuts and almonds are some of the best superfoods out there, but instead of those expensive premixed packs (often filled with too many high-fat peanuts), create your own ideal mix by buying bags of whole nuts from the health food store, which is always cheaper than those dinky little bags at the supermarket. Mix it up with cranberries and sunflower seeds for an even tastier snack.
