5 Minutes With Simple’s Skin Expert Samantha Powell

December 4, 2012

We love simple skincare, which is why we love Simple Skincare, the natural skincare brand. We asked Simple’s skin expert Samantha Powell her tips for healthy, radiant skin, the simple way (and how she banishes blemishes – fast!)

Describe your daily skincare regime?

My daily skincare routine is quite regimental – I put a lot of time and
thought into it. It’s usually the same but I do change it according to
weather and my environment.

I always start with a good cleanse with Simple’s Kind To Skin
Moisturising Facial Wash. I spend a few minutes massaging it in
because this helps to build the collagen and elastin in the skin and it
gets the blood flowing to that area.

Then I apply Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner to close my
pores and tighten up my skin.

After this I pop on my Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser which is so
soft and hydrating and the perfect base for makeup as it is incredibly
hydrating and non greasy. Occasionally I might mix my moisturiser with
a bit of rosehip oil if I am in cold & windy conditions.

Lastly I apply my Simple Radiance Brightening Eye Cream and then of
course sunscreen.

During the day, I always have on hand my Simple Facial Cleansing
Wipes for a quick cleanse after exercise or to freshen up my makeup
before I go out after work.

Then at night, I remove my makeup with the extremely gentle Simple
Kind To Eyes Eye Makeup Remover before commencing the same
routine as the morning. However, once or twice a week I use Simple
Smoothing Facial Scrub in the shower to exfoliate away dead skin cells.

What’s the best way to apply your skincare products

With all creams and cleansers I love to apply them with my fingers and
give the area a nice massage to promote circulation. For the delicate
area around the eyes, I use my ring finger to gently pat eye cream in –
as this is the softest finger.

What is your best tip for treating blemishes?

Apart from doing all the right things with your skincare routine, drinking
water, exercising and eating healthy foods, some people still suffer
from breakouts, this can be due to hormones, too much sweat due to
exercise etc.

There is a little trick that I love which is cheap and natural: mix apple
cider vinegar with water 50/50 and use it as a tonic at night after your
toner and before moisturiser. It works!

What is your best skincare tip?

The best skincare tip is definitely to be diligent about clever cleansing.
The more time your skin has to breathe, the better condition it will be in.
So you have to be organised and that means having ways to remove
your makeup when you are on- the-go, traveling or coming home late
and can’t be bothered doing your full routine.

This is the step that I feel is essential to maintaining healthy clear skin
especially when you don’t have time to do the rest. So I personally
have Simple Facial Cleansing Wipes on hand at all times, in my
handbag and on my bedside table (for those late nights) so they are
readily accessible at all times.
