5 Winter Hair Care Tips

July 11, 2013

As the seasons change, so does our hair. Frizz, static, split ends, and limp locks are all common problems our hair endures during winter.

But there is a solution! To help you achieve bright and bouncy tresses for the cooler months ahead, home hair care experts JoBaz has put together their top tips for beautiful hair this winter.

1. Get a trim

Nothing will make you feel fresher than a trim. It’s important to get your hair in great shape during winter. A trim every 6-8 weeks is ideal to keep your hair in excellent shape and to ensure your split ends don’t move up your hair shaft. Whether it’s an inch or two, a clean trim will leave your hair looking noticeably healthier.

2. Brighten up

Amp up your new routine with a winter-inspired hair colour. Going a shade or two lighter or darker on your base colour will give your skin instant warmth. Alternatively a punch of bright colour (think orange-reds or vibrant pinks) is sure to stand out against all that winter black. If you need to remove colour build beforehand or if you make a mistake with your colour choice, don’t worry too much as JoBaz Hair Colour Remover is a great choice to get you back to your natural shade.

3. Give your hair brushes a bath

How can you expect to keep your hair clean if you’re brushing it with a dirty brush? Loose ends, dust and dirt; it all gets onto our hair brushes and that’s why they need a regular wash. Remove any hair that’s built up in the brush (wetting the hair brush first often makes it easier to take out). Fill a container large enough to hold the brush with half hot water and half vinegar. Let soak in a tub for 20 minutes, rinse and let allow it to dry overnight.

4. Treat your hair to a condition

Rescue and rejuvenate winter hair that’s dry or damaged with a deep conditioner. A conditioning treatment will help restore the nutrients and vitamins your hair has lost over the winter season. We love JoBaz Everyday Straight Hair. It contains advanced collagen and keratin protein complex which hydrates and strengthens damaged hair.

5. Seep your strands in oil

Give your hair an in-home oil treatment to rejuvenate your hair. Sweet almond and coconut oils are all great botanicals to use to help repair damaged hair. Apply small amounts of your preferred botanical oil onto damp hair until it’s completely worked into your hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap and a warm towel and let it set for 30 minutes, then rinse and shampoo. To condition brittle ends and smooth fly-aways, mix a few drops of botanical oils with a few drops of sandalwood oil and run it through the ends of your hair.
