Seriously, who has time in the morning?
Unless you are one of those superhuman people who manage to go for a run, drop the kids off at school and still arrive to work on time looking amazing every morning, then you could do with a little help in the AM hours.
Most mornings are a struggle for me, and I either run late most days, or resort to skipping breakfast altogether to save time. But with a little planning, it’s possible to have a wholesome breakfast and make it out the door on time. So to help you become the queen of your morning routine, we’ve got some breakfast hacks to supercharge your day…
1. Pre-pack your smoothie
No need to fuss about chopping and measuring out all your ingredients when you plan the night ahead. Simply freeze everything into a ziplock bag and mix up with your milk or yogurt of choice in the morning.
2. Make grab and go muffins
These protein packed parcels are a great replacement for an omelette and can be a super healthy alternative to reaching for an actual muffin. Make them ahead of time and then heat up quickly in the microwave before you head out the door. (Recipe here)
3. Replace scrambled eggs
Instead of standing over the stove for five or ten minutes, scramble your eggs into a coffee mug and place into the microwave for a minute. Your eggs will be light, fluffy and fast. (Recipe here)
4. Microwave your bacon
Similar to making scrambled eggs in the microwave, it’s super simple to cook your bacon in there too. Line a plate with a paper towel, pop the bacon on top and finish with other paper towel. Pop in the microwave and boom, crispy bacon in seconds.
5. Try yogurt and fruit popsicles
Perfect for being on the go during the Summer months, these popsicles provide all your morning nutrition in a ready-to-serve fashion. Just mix your choice of yogurt and fruit together and freeze for a delicious breakfast treat. (Recipe here)
6. Keep breakfast bars on hand
Breakfast bars are easy to make fresh on a Sunday afternoon with a few basic ingredients and will mean you can grab a mouthful as you run out the door. They can be as healthy as you like and these whole-grain raspberry energy bars are as good as they come. (Recipe here)
7. Cook your oats in a rice cooker
This is similar to the overnight method for creating yummy oats, except it doesn’t take a hours, instead just 25 minutes. Pop your oats on before you hop in the shower, then by the time you’re dried and dressed they’ll be good to go. (Recipe here)
8. Make hard boiled eggs in the oven
If you’re a fan of having an egg each day with breakfast then plan ahead and cook all your eggs at once in the oven to save a stack of time each day. (Recipe here)
9. Store your pancake batter
Any left over batter from Sunday’s pancakes can be stored in an empty sauce bottle in the fridge for an easy, no mess fix to get you through the rest of the week. (Get our gluten-free pancake recipe here)
