9 New Beauty Trends We Already Regret
There’s a time and a place for everything – except unicorn hair.
When it comes to your personal style it’s fun to follow the trends and change it up every now and again. I’ll be the first to admit I churned through half a dozen LipSmackers a week as a teen just to keep my lips glossy and smelling of strawberry shakes and mango melon Starburst. I also went through a terrible stage of having bangs when they clearly didn’t suit me and balayage blue tips because I thought they made me look cool.
Adapting to the ebb and flow of fashion fads like I did is invigorating, even Coco Chanel once said,”A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life.” And she was right.
But before you go participating in the next modern craze in the hope to become a chic modern woman, take a step back and think about what you’ll be getting yourself into, because there’s definitely a line between edgy and epic fail. Just like manscaping TITF and created glitter beards, women’s beauty trends can sometimes go a little over the top. And these latest looks from New York Fashion Week are definitely one step too far…
1. Painted hair
The last time I checked, grey locks aren’t the symbol of youth, nor is paint-clumped hair flattering. Note to self: do not try this trend at home.
2. Blue eyeshadow
Unfortunately, history has a habit of repeating itself, and we’ve seen the return of blue eyeliner and eyeshadow. This fad definitely should have stayed in the 80s where it belongs.
3. Rainbow freckles
These funky freckles are cute – if you’re 10. So if you’re an adult, don’t think about giving this a go.
4. Unicorn hair
A great idea in theory, but not such a fab one in practice. Unpractical, much?
5. Crystal lips
Crystal studded lips sound epic, until you think about eating or trying to kiss someone…
6. Orange tints
This may look gorgeous on runway models, but can you seriously see yourself sipping on cocktails which match the tint of your sunset eyelids?
7. Short bangs
I get it, you’re trying to be quirky. But seriously, who on earth could pull this off?
8. The V-part
This bizarre twist on the old zig-zag part is really just an amplified widow’s peak. In other words, it’s not at all attractive.
9. Graphic brows
I’ll be the first to admit I’m always working on upping my brow game, but these block brows are taking it a step too far.
