A Facial For Your Girly Bits?

First, there was vajazzling, where celebs like Jennifer Love-Hewitt extolled the virtues of waxing their pubic hair and replacing it with stick-on Swarovski crystals.

Now, it’s time to say hello to vagacials. Or, you might like to ask for it by it’s more salon-ready name – the Peach Smoothie.

Yes, it’s a facial for your vulva.

It’s pretty much like the regular facials we wish we could have more of: cleanse, scrub with an exfoliating AHA scrub, followed by an acid peel. Then the beauty therapist examines your pubic area for in-grown hairs, blocked pores or acne (many women experience inflammation and breakouts down there too). If you’re prone to in-grown hairs, you’re subjected to a plucking with tweezers. Lastly, a serum treatment to prevent further in-growns and razor bumps.

The vagacial lasts 15 minutes and costs $50 at New York’s Haven Spa, while at nearby Townhouse Spa, the downstairs pamper session lasts 30 minutes and costs $95 but also includes microdermabrasion. Regular at-home treatments are recommended.

On the plus side, it’s non-invasive (as non-invasive as a stranger spending so much time grooming your private parts can be!) and only treats the outside pubic area. Haven Spa says the vagacial is very popular with 20 to 35 year olds but also with women well into their 70s who are taking much more of an interest into their personal – very personal – grooming.

What do you think? Would you consider getting a vagacial?
