The war against misogyny and Islamophobia has officially begun.
Human rights lawyer, activist, author and wife to Hollywood heartthrob Amal Clooney has taken a stance on Trump’s offensive remarks about women and Muslims who live in the United States, calling for its citizens to send him a clear message by voting for Hillary Clinton in the upcoming election.
In an interview with BBC this week to discuss her ongoing work defending journalist and Azerbaijan prisoner Khadija Ismayilova, George Clooney’s better half took on the Republican presidential candidate in an extremely eloquent manner. Without even mentioning his name, she responded to his hate speech with educated arguments and statistics that shut down Trump’s flamboyant remarks and simultaneously dampened his credibility.
“If you actually look at what he specifically said in that now infamous speech about Muslims, he kept saying ‘They only want jihad; they don’t believe in our way of life; they don’t respect our system’,” said Clooney.
“People should’ve been saying ‘Do you mean the 1.5 billion people around the world who fit that description? Do you mean the people who are US citizens, who are members of your military, the vast majority of whom are not extremist or violent in any way?'” she added.
The glamazon and brilliant lawyer, who has also recently cohosted two Democratic fundraising dinners with her husband, continued to discredit the misogynistic business tycoon and asked for concerned citizens to lend their vote to Hillary Clinton.
“If, at the end of all of this, he [Trump] gets beaten by the person who becomes the first female president of the United States, then I think that would send a very positive message from the electorate back to him as to what they really think of those points of view.”
Let’s just hope the people of the United States listen, make an educated vote and create change.
