Boho bun

Estimated time: 10 minutes

3 Complex Hairstyles Simplified

Instructions

  1. Start with day old hair which has retained some of its natural oils – this will make it so much easier to work with!
  2. Part your hair (down the centre or to the side), then start by creating a 4cm thick braid. Fasten it with a clear elastic.
  3. Take the rest of your hair, then create a few more messy braids with the ends. Secure with an elastic, then tug at each side to make them a little more ‘lived-in.’
  4. Position a mirror in front and behind you – it will make it so much easier to see what you’re doing. Then pin each section of hair into a bun. If your hair is a little on the thick side, use a clear elastic to help secure it into place. Cover the elastic with extra hair, and pin directly over it.
  5. Use a teasing comb to tug out any shorter layers, this will help to frame your face.

Long fishtail

Estimated time: 5 minutes

3 Complex Hairstyles Simplified

Instructions

  1. This is the perfect hairstyle if you’re working with slightly oily hair, or even if it’s been freshly washed. It only involves a simple fishtail braid that is easy to achieve if you know the technique.
  2. Divide hair into two equal sections, then pull a thinner strand of hair from the left side and cross it over to the right.
  3. Repeat this step again on the opposite side, then keep alternating until you have reached the end. The secret to nailing this look is to keep hair looking neat and tidy, so make sure to position a mirror behind your back.
  4. For a messier look, tug at each side of the braid.

Sophisticated side bun

Estimated time: 10 minutes

3 Complex Hairstyles Simplified

Instructions

  1. Part your hair down the side with a comb, then gather your hair to the front.
  2. Create a side bun which covers the side of your ear, and pin back the strains of hair with an elastic or bobby pins.
  3. Take any shorter layers from the front of your hair and use a curling wand for some extra volume and bounce. Once it’s cooled down, curl it once with your finger and pin it back into the bun.

2. Apply a few pumps of a nourishing hair oil onto the ends of your hair while it’s still wet. Don’t get any of this product on the root of your hair since it can make it quite oily and difficult to style. Dry your hair naturally or on a low setting to avoid follicle breakage.

3. Once hair has completely dried, section it off and start from the bottom. Use a straightening iron on small pieces of hair (the smaller, the better), and straighten slowly to avoid missing any strands.

Get the look: Blake Lively’s Bohemian Side Braid

Beautiful girl next door Blake Lively has been rocking a mean side braid lately, and we here at SHESAID think that it’s the perfect look for the warmer weather. Although this is ideal if your hair is medium-long length, you can also try it on layered hair since it will look laid-back and undone.

RELATED: Check out the Milkmaid Braids Hairstyle At NYFW here

Instructions

1. Divide your hair into two sections, and then simply comb through any knots or tangles. Start from the ends, then gently work your way upwards to the crown. Feel free to pop in any extensions if you feel your hair needs some more volume to work this look, otherwise you can just proceed as usual.

2. Whether your hair is freshly washed or second-day, spray some dry-shampoo at the roots to create some lift and volume.

3. Clip one of the sections off, and work with one side at a time. Apply a bit of texturising spray to your ends, since this will make the look lived-in.

4. Take a small section from the front of your hair, and section it off on the other side. Now divide your hair in two, and start a fish braid on the front section. This doesn’t have to be too tight, it really just depends on how refined you want the look to be.

5. After you’re done with the first fishtail braid, use your fingers to divide the hair for a casual look. Pull it apart at the roots and at the ends. Secure it with a clear hair tie. Do the same with the back section of the hair you previously divided.

6. Now take the 2 completed fishtail braids and use a bobby pin to secure them together in the middle. Do this the entire way down the length of the hair.

7. Take the other section and bring it over the side of hair you were just working on. Smooth it out over the fishtail braids, then do another fishtail using large sections of hair instead.

8. Combine the 3 fishtail braids together, making sure that the biggest is showing at the front. Then secure with another clear elastic. At this point the bobby pins shouldn’t be sticking out, since the final fishtail will be able to conceal any tracks.

9. If you have sectioned off any front bangs, just simply curl the ends and pin over to one side. Tuck in the ends depending on how long your hair is.

10. Use a clip or brooch over the top, since this will tie the entire look together and conceal any bobby pins!

Would you try this look?

5 On-Trend Celebrity Hairstyles To Copy

Thinking of getting a new hair cut or color? These five cool celebrity hairstyles will give you plenty of inspiration to take to your stylist.

Those with medium to long hair can easily pull off the romantic style that actress Kerry Washington wore to the Oscars recently. This hairstyle is both sleek and soft, with sexy waves and a sleek look around the face. Since the top half of the hair is pulled back, the face is able to take center stage in this celebrity hairstyle. A side part and sweeping bangs that are pulled back behind the ear allow whoever is wearing this hairstyle to get things done while still looking good. This style works best on women with straight or wavy hair. Those with straight hair can mimic Kerry’s soft waves using a wand or curlers.

As far as color goes, the ombre trend is really taking off, and actress Rachel Bilson is the perfect example. Rachel’s chocolate brown hair fades into golden near the ends, giving it a sun kissed look. She adds glamour to the hairstyle by teasing it for added volume and curling it for texture. The result is big, sexy hair that has a gorgeous two-tone appearance. This is a style that is ideal for the evening, such as an intimate dinner or a night of dancing. This is one celebrity hairstyle that brings drama and attracts attention.

Kim Kardashian, hairstyles, celebrity hairstyles, hair trends

Singer Miley Cyrus successfully pulls off a short style that is actually very versatile. The sides are cut close to the scalp and the top of the hair is left long. Using pomade or gel, the hair on top can be styled into bangs that swoop down over the face, or back, allowing for the eyes to shine. Miley’s bleach blond longer locks contrast with the natural brown of the shorter hair on the side, giving the hairstyle a young and fresh look. Since the hair on top is not much to work with, this is still an easy style to achieve for women with curly hair.

Kim Kardashian, hairstyles, celebrity hairstyles, hair trends

Long hair will always be in style, and for those that don’t have it naturally, there are extensions. Kim Kardashian pulls off this sexy look by blending the length of her natural hair seamlessly so that the extensions look real. A middle part and long, face-framing bangs complete this stunning look. While Kim pulls off the hairstyle in golden blonde, this look works for any hair color, including ombre. The slight wave can be achieved using a large barrel curling iron or hot rollers. This is a celebrity hairstyle that can be worn day or night.

Women who prefer to have their hair off their face yet still want a look that is sexy and interesting may opt for this hairstyle worn by Selena Gomez. Selena’s dark locks look striking in this hairstyle, but any color will work. This style can also adapt to any hair texture, as the hair is completely pulled back and braided with no loose areas. A small bouffant at the crown of the head flatters the face. The inside out braid starts right behind the pouf and snakes down the back of the head. Selena’s braid is slightly chunky and messy, which contrasts with the smooth sides of the head where the hair is sleekly pulled into the braid. This is a style that requires long hair, and will work especially well with hair that is thick and voluminous.

Celebrity Hairstyles: Hottest Hair Colours for Autumn

Autumn is the perfect time to experiment with your hair colour. Look for colours with plenty of warmth such as rich reds, deep browns and golden blondes. Before you head for that bottle of dye, take a look at some of our favourite celebrity hair colours to inspire you.

Amy Adam’s Strawberry Blonde

Red is perfect for autumn: think the change of leaves, bottles of wines by the fireplace, and deep berry lipsticks. Not everyone can pull of this hair colour though because it tends to cast a yellow tint to the skin. Women with fair skin, like Amy’s, tend to look best with shades of red. Red has so many tones from coppery red to deep burgundy, so speak to your colourist about the right colour to match your skin tone and eyes.

Hottest Hair Colours for Autumn

Tina Fey’s Rich Brunette

Tina Fey’s golden brown hue is perfect for autumn because it has a lot of richness and warmth mixed with the brightness of golden highlights. This hair colour is perfect for women who have light to medium skin, but it can also work on deeper skin tones. Ask your hair colourist to run toffee and cinnamon-hued highlights through your hair for depth.

Lea Michelle’s Chocolate Brown

Lea’s rich chocolate brown hue is infused with shiny golden highlights throughout to add dimension and bring out her skin’s warmth for autumn. If you have brown hair, getting this hair colour is simple. Just highlight and lowlight sections of your hair with cafe latte shades for the right touch of contrast. Because of the depth, this hair colour can also easily transition to winter.

celebrity autumn hair colour

Emma Stone’s Auburn

Emma’s beautiful dark auburn colour is perfect for girls with fair skin who want to experiment with darker shades without looking washed out. These hair colors are perfect for fall because they brighten the skin. If you have dark hair, look for a colour 1-2 shades lighter, with an auburn tint. Always use a colour protectant as auburn and red tones tend to wash out quickly.

5 Celebrity Hairstyles for Oval Faces

Looking to change up your hairstyle this season? If you’re staring at a lovely oval face in the mirror, consider yourself lucky! Oval faces can get away with just about any look; extremely versatile and always stunning. Get inspired with these celebrity hairstyles and start having more fun with your oval visage ASAP.

1. Tyra Banks: The Slicked-Back Showstopper

If there’s one thing world famous former super model and America’s Next Top Model host and creator is known for, it’s drama. And lots of it! Her over-the-top personality and unpredictability extend all the way to the tips of her tresses. With her hair drawn back tight into a sleek, low bun she exudes red carpet-worthy glam and brings all the attention to her face (what else is new?!) Not every face shape can pull off a style that puts every facial feature and contour directly in the spotlight, but that’s the perk of being an oval-faced beauty. A little smizing (smiling with your eyes) doesn’t hurt either!

Oval Faces Celebrity Hairstyles

2. Liv Tyler: The Fringe-y Flirt

While actress and model Liv Tyler’s father rocks out on stage, she’s doing a fine job rocking some fun and flirty fringe. Gentle, slightly curved fringe balances Liv’s longer visage and brings all the attention to her steel blue eyes. The overall style is playful, demure, and put together much like Liv’s personality. Avoid bangs that are too blunt as they may come off as severe and require a lot more maintenance to look perfect each and every day.

Oval Faces hairstyles

3. Kate Middleton: The Under-the-Sea Royalty

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, wasn’t selected as one of The 100 Most Influential People in the World by Time magazine for nothing! A beauty in and out, she has been turning heads in the fashion world for years but her hairstyle is also making waves. Kate sports long chestnut tresses that have that just-back-from-the-beach appeal. The subtle, long layers prevent the style from coming off as dated or dowdy while her efforts to keep hair healthy really make those beachy waves shine.

Oval Faces celebrity hairstyles

4. Julianne Hough: The Shaggy Bob Sweetheart

Long or short, Julianne’s blond mane gets almost as much attention on the dance floor as her jaw-dropping moves. Most recently she’s brought even more attention to her delicate features and sugar-sweet pout by chopping off some serious inches. The result is a super fresh and modern bob which looks and actually is effortless! Simply scrunch wet hair as it air dries and find yourself with a cute and casual shaggy bob like Julianne. The light, baby chick blond hue also ups the charm factor and really makes this style pop.

5. Blake Lively: The Side-Swept Naturalist

Fashionista, actress, and model Blake Lively looks fun, fresh, and modern basically 24/7. It may have something to do with her luminous smile and free-spirited wardrobe but her hairstyle doesn’t hurt either. Daring and wavy or soft and straight, Blake commands a fair amount of camera time with her gentle side-swept bangs. Parted to the side instead of down the centre, the side-swept approach helps balance her features, bring attention to the eyes, and keep her looking effortlessly natural. Long layers and some subtle highlights add dimension and youth to Blake’s lovely look.

5 Celebrity Hairstyles That Work For Fine Hair

Fine hair can be frustrating to style. It gets easily weighed down with the wrong product or can fall flat after an hour. The good news is that there are plenty of options for fine-haired women, no matter what look you prefer. Here are some fine-haired celebrities that rock a variety of different styles.

Kiera Knightley

Kiera shows that even fine hair can have a lot of body and movement. The subtle layers create volume to keep hair light while the messy part and volume at the crown break up the style so that it feels full. Texturising products can help achieve this look but should be used with a light hand; too much will give you the opposite effect and make hair look and feel greasy.

latest Celebrity Hairstyles

Gwyneth Paltrow

This shoulder-skimming cut is great for women with fine hair because it gives you a little bit of length without weighing hair down. The blunt ends give the illusion of thicker hair, but it’s still styled with enough texture so that it doesn’t look too heavy or severe. After blow drying hair with a round brush, run a flat iron over small sections to keep flyaways down and ensure that hair stays smooth and shiny. This cut is great for those who prefer a sleeker look, and it’s one of our favourite celebrity hairstyles.

cool Celebrity Hairstyles

Michelle Williams

Michelle might be growing out her famous pixie cut, but she’s created a completely inspiring short bob for the dreaded in-between length. The length on top gives her a bit to work with so she can create different looks. Slicked back or pushed forward across the forehead like bangs, you can achieve the same look with choppy layers and a bit of pomade. Add a pretty headband or a jewelled clip to dress up this style for any occasion.

Sexy Celebrity Hairstyles

Cameron Diaz

Cameron has the ultimate sexy celebrity hairstyle. The shoulder-length cut is versatile, with long layers that frame her face, showcasing her gorgeous blue eyes. The key to this look is selecting the right products. Starting out with volumising shampoo and conditioner to lift hair at the roots while keeping it hydrated. Mousse paired with hot rollers will create natural waves. Finish it off with a light hairspray that will hold the style all day long to keep it from falling flat.

Celebrity Hairstyles

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer is the ultimate chameleon, changing her hairstyle and colour every few months. Her current short crop shows that even fine-haired ladies can wear a super short do. After showering, spritz hair with a texturising sea-salt spray and blow dry with a diffuser. The sections at the front should be curled away from the face to open it up and highlight your best features.

5 Celebrity Hairstyles for Thick Hair

Thick hair has plenty of volume, but managing a head of thick hair can present quite a few style challenges. Luckily, there are tons of easy-to-do hairstyles inspired by celebrity hairstyles that can help you control your mane with ease. Here are five easy hairstyles for women with thick hair:

Julianne Hough’s Surfer Girl Waves

Waves add plenty of movement to thick hair and look effortlessly chic. Getting them is really easy and you don’t even have to use heat, which can fry your strands. To achieve this look, apply a salt spray to your hair to encourage the formation of waves and braid small sections. When your hair feels dry, release the braids and enjoy your look.

thick style hair

Taylor Swift’s Curls

Taylor Swift’s curls are iconic, and everyone wants to achieve the look. These curls are highly versatile and look great for any occasion. For this look, you’re going to need a ¾-inch curling iron, heat protectant, some hairspray and a few bobby pins. Start out with dry hair and generously apply heat protectant to the strands. Take the curling iron and wrap small sections of hair around it to create a very tight curl. The last step is to tease the crown of hair for volume and apply hairspray for hold.

great thick hair

Demi Lovato’s Bun

A high bun is a simple way to keep thick hair out of your face. For this look, you will need to have hair ties, a bun shaper, smoothing gel and hairspray. First, brush out your hair to remove unwanted tangles. Then, tie your hair into a high ponytail and slip it in the bun shaper. Once you’ve created the bun shape, apply hairspray and you’re good to go.

Ponytail thick hair

Eva Mendes’ Ponytail

A ponytail is an easy look for thick hair. To achieve Eva’s chic ponytail, back tease the hair at the crown. Then, scoop the hair into a low ponytail and secure with an elastic. The look works best when it’s a little messy, so pull out a few strands around the face and tease the ponytail at its base.

straight Layers thick hair

Ashley Tisdale’s Pin-straight Layers

Getting layers added to your mane is a fantastic way to give movement to your strands. Since thick hair has a tendency to pouf out on the ends, it’s recommended to get the layers thinned at the bottom so they hang just right. To style this look, start by parting your hair into a deep part. Using a flat iron, go over the ends and slightly twist the wrist to create a slight bend. Finish with hairspray to seal in the look.

Get the Look: Kate Hudson’s Glam Oscars Hair

Kate Hudson was one of our Oscars best dressed, thanks in part to her gorgeous hair complimenting her stunning Versave gown. Celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan described it as a “modern take on a classic 1930’s/1940’s hair style. I saw it as Veronica Lake meets Jerry Hall.” Here’s how to get the look in a few easy steps.

1. “The key to this hairstyle was Living Proof Prime Style Extender. Because of the rain, we needed to use a product that would seal the hair and protect it from all the moisture in the air. The product was our most important tool for creating a look that would last the whole night. I started by applying Prime to wet hair before blowing it dry with a round brush.

2. I added a strong side part to the hair for a touch of glamour and applied Living Proof Satin to the ends for a polished shine.

3. I then used a 1-inch curling iron to curl the ends and brushed through them through with a Mason Pearson Boar Bristle Brush. I finished the look by spraying Living Proof Flex to give it a light hold.”

4. After hair has cooled down, remove all MYCURLs and massage the roots slightly to open up the curl a little. Spray Medium Hairspray by SACHAJUAN onto a makeup brush and glide over the top layer and twist the brush towards the ends to keep them looking polished. Secure with Super Strong Hairspray by SACHAJUAN and sweep to the side.

5 Straight Celebrity Hairstyles We Love

If you’ve got naturally straight or slightly wavy hair and thinking of ways to style your hair, take a look at five of our favourite straight celebrity hairstyles for inspiration.

Reese Witherspoon
Part of Reese’s girl-next-door charm is her pretty, polished straight hair that looks attainable to anyone with naturally straight hair. Ask your stylist for a long, blunt bob, and blow dry you hair straight. If you have a fringe, blow dry it with a round brush for volume, and quickly run a flat iron through it to seal the look. Finish with a quick mist of light hairspray to tame flyaways.

straight2

Courtney Cox
Courtney has been rocking long, straight locks since Friends, and even at AGE, her hair looks avamazing. To get Courtney’s classic straight hair, look for shampoos and conditioners that will give you the volume without weighing it down. Go light on leave-in conditioner and dry shampoo as they can be heavy on thin hair. Gently dry your hair with a towel first, then use your hair dryer. As you dry, tip your head down and dry the roots for added volume. Once your hair is dry, run an anti-frizz product to get Courtney’s smooth, shiny sheen.

straight4

Jennifer Aniston
Courtney’s bestie Jennifer has experimented with her hair over the years, from long to short, but always straight. Look for a straightening or keratin shampoo and conditioner that will flatten the hair shaft. Towel dry, but don’t be rough or you’ll end up with frizz. A touch of hair straightening serum, a blow dryer, and a round brush works well to straighten, or for poker straight locks, finish with a straightening iron.

straight3

Jessica Biel
Jessica tends to wear her hair long and straight these days, and always super shiny. Lean toward a protein shampoo and conditioner to give your hair strength, then dry the hair with a round brush, working section by section. Finish with a shine serum for a glossy sheen.

straight5

Nicole Kidman
Nicole has been wearing her naturally curly hair straight over the last few years, lightening her locks from red to blonde. Colour is a great way to give your straight hair a makeover, so take inspiration from Nicole’s forays into strawberry blondes, creamy blondes and golden blondes.

Celebrity Hairstyles: 5 of the Best Bobs

Bobs are a versatile hairstyle that will take you from the office to brunch with friends with minimal styling. Bobs are one of the most popular celebrity hairstyles, and with so many pixie cuts happening now, expect to see even more celebrity bobs soon. Here are a few bob ideas you may want to try, depending on your hair type and face shape.

Carey Mulligan’s short wispy bob
Carey Mulligan’s square-shaped face makes this layered and slightly curly bob look especially adorable. Her strawberry blonde tresses with golden blonde highlights also gives more definition to the style and compliments the gold and pink undertones in her skin. The bob falls just at the jawline, and the waves and curls of the bob are achieved with a medium-barrel flat iron and pomade to keep the style in place.

bob_kirstendunst

Kirsten Dunst’s sleek bob
Kirsten Dunst wears her bob in a bold platinum blonde colour while still showing off her dark roots, which works well for her pale complexion. This style is best for straight hair that has a medium heaviness – not too thick and not too thin. The bob is parted on the side to accentuate her round face and features a side-swept fringe, perfect if you’re growing out a fringe. The end of the bob is cut bluntly to give the style more definition. The bob can look casual with a little serum to get rid of any flyaways, or look more formal by tucking one side of the bob behind the ears and wearing chandelier earrings.

bob_keiraKeira Knightley’s wavy bob
Knightley’s defined cheekbones and oval face make this wavy bob especially flattering. The hairstyle falls at the jawline, and her rich chestnut colour is ideal for warm skin tones. Style your short bob like Keria by asking your hairstylist to cut defined, long layers and creating waves with a large-barrel curling iron. This bob works well on hair that is thin to medium-thickness.bob_rashidajonesRashida Jones’ bob with a fringe
Rashida Jones has a heart-shaped face, which makes a long bob with fringe the perfect style for her. The bob falls just above the shoulders, and her brown hair is highlighted with amber, dark blonde and caramel highlights, so the bob doesn’t fall flat. The bangs aren’t too heavy on the forehead, which helps to frame the face nicely.. This is one of the best bobs for thick and medium-thick hair.bob_alyssamilano

Alyssa Milano’s medium-length bob
The defined layers in Alyssa’s bob hairstyle make it especially attractive if you’re growing out a shorter bob. The hair is parted in the middle to show off the shape of her lovely oval face. The medium brown color of the hair with lighter brown highlights works perfectly for cool skin tones. Style your medium-length bob like Alyssa with a medium-barrel curling or flat iron.Which celebrity has your favourite bob hairstyle?

5 of the Hottest Redhead Celebrity Hairstyles

Red hair is having a major moment right now. Some of the hottest celebrities are rocking red hair and we’ve never wanted to go red as much as now! Here are some of the most gorgeous red hair celebrity hairstyles to inspire you.

Christina Hendricks
Did you know Christina is a natural blonde? But her fiery red hair has become her signature look on Mad Men and the red carpet and for good reason – it compliments her luminous pale skin so beautifully. That’s the thing about red hair – it’s almost always universally-flattering for all skin types. She loves volume both on and off the red carpet, so blow dry hair with a large barrel brush to create waves and fullness.

Amy Adams
Amy Adams plays around with red hues, from light gold to copper browns. She often emulates old Hollywood glamour on the red carpet, taking cues from the 1940’s and Veronica Lake.

To get Amy’s waves, do it the old-fashioned way: sleep in large foam rollers! In the morning, lightly separate the curls and brush out carefully to retain the wave but allow it to flow softly. Pull the bulk of the curls over one shoulder to complete Adams’ pretty mermaid look.

Emma Stone
Emma has alternated between blonde and red, but nothing makes those incredible emerald eyes pop like red hair.

Emma’s gorgeous updo is the perfect way to wear a fringe that you might be growing up. Blow dry straight, part on the side, pin your hair up, and sleek the fringe with serum.

Florence Welch
Florence is the pin-up girl for redheads. She’s cultivated an ethereal image both as a fasionista, beauty icon and musician.

Go straight to your hair colourist and ask for fire engine red. This will work on brunettes or dark blondes, but beware! This kind of vibrant red is really hard to maintain, and you’ll find you lose a lot of the colour after your first wash. Discuss maintenance with your colourist and invest in colour locking hair care products.

Isla Fisher
Isla shows you don’t have to do bright and light when you go red – dark red hair is just as glamourous. The dark red is super flattering for her pale skin type. Just make sure you tint your brows to match – too light or too dark and it can throw the whole look off.

Celebrity Hairstyles: Kate Hudson’s High Bun

Award-winning hairstylist Lizzie Liros shows us how to get an effortless high bun like Kate Hudson, which would look so pretty at a wedding, party, anything!

1. To start apply a volumizing hair mousse to the hair, then loosely curl with a curling iron to form a soft textured wave.

2. Run your fingers through the hair to separate the curl then tie the hair into a high ponytail. Allow hair to fall out naturally at the nape of the neck if too short to pull up. Use the end of a tail comb to lightly pull back hair to create an effortless look.

3. Backcomb the hair to create s slightly messy texture and wrap the hair around the ponytail in a circular motion, ensuring all hair is wrapped in the same direction.

4. Using bobby pins, pin the hair into place around the entire bun.

5. Use a soft Shine Spray for a beautiful glossy finish.

TIP: Use a clip in ponytail hairpiece to create length and volume for this glamorous bun if your hair is not naturally long enough to create the look. Lizzie recommends Amazing Hair Australia Ponytail, RRP $69.00 for synthetic or Made-To-Order in 100% REMY Human Hair.

5 of the Hottest Brunette Celebrity Hairstyles

Brunette babes – are you thinking of giving your hair a makeover with a new colour or cut? Take inspiration from some of our favourite brunette celebrity hairstyles.

Penelope Cruz
Penelope is the epitome of sexy Spanish style. Her beautiful, thick hair doesn’t need much styling, and she usually keeps it long with a few layers to frame the face

If you’re a brunette looking for a hair makeover like Penelope, ask your stylist to lighten or darken your hair in a rich, chocolate hue, with highlights in complimentary caramel tones.

brunette4

Angelina Jolie
Angelina has a gorgeous mane of dark brown hair and never does much to it, at best styling a long fringe which brings all the attention to her mesmerising eyes. If your hair is long like Angelina’s, make sure you have a regular trim to keep it healthy, and ask your stylist to cut layers around the face so it doesn’t fall flat and lifeless. Consider a fringe like Angelina’s which can be brushed to the side or pinned back for versatility.

brunette5

Salma Hayek
Salma has naturally wavy hair, and while she’s lightened it to golden brown hues before, she looks best when her hair is dark and glossy, making her eyes pop. We love the below-shoulder length, which can be scooped up into an effortless bun, or kept loose and wavy at night. Apply a little volumiser cream and blow dry with a large barrel brush.

brunette3

Jennifer Garner
Busy mum Jennifer Garner has gorgeous medium-thick brown hair, and doesn’t need to do much to make it look fab. She’s not a fan of over styling, usually wearing it down.

To get Jennifer’s be achy waves, simply run a curling iron through the hair and brush out carefully so the waves are soft and not too defined. Brush your fringe to the side, and run a shine serum through the hair.

brunette2

Alyssa Milano
Long before Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway, Alyssa Milano was the original pixie cut queen. Her uber-short chop perfectly framed her face, bringing the attention to her beautiful features (those eyes! Those lips!).

To get a similar style to Alyssa, ask your stylist to create choppy pixie cut that will be easy to style with a little styling wax or texturing spray.

5 of the Hottest Blonde Celebrity Hairstyles

Blondes have more fun, right? Maybe that’s why so many of Hollywood’s leading ladies have made blonde their signature hair colour. There has never been a better time to go blonde, or enhance your light hair with a new blonde hair colour. If you aren’t sure where to start with your hair makeover, get inspired with some of our favourite blonde celebrity hairstyles.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s long, sleek style
Gwyneth has styled her straight hair in different lengths, from short bob to long and blunt, and if you have naturally-straight hair, her look may be for you.

You can just blow dry it straight and let it go. However, if you want it to be more poker straight and polished, get out your straightening iron to get the hair to lay flat. Apply a little frizz serum or put some hairspray on your brush and run it through your hair to tame flyaways.

blonde_kate

Kate Hudson’s relaxed waves
The quintessential beach babe, Kate Hudson has an effortless style and natural beauty. Her relaxed, beach waves look like they’ve been kissed by the sun, with natural highlights.

To get Kate’s relaxed waves, apply a heat-protecting serum to your dry hair then wrap sections of hair around a curling iron on low or medium heat. You don’t want to use gel or high heat, or you’ll create a curl that looks too structured and crisp. Use your fingers to relax the curls when you’re done. The look is even easier to achieve on second-day hair.

blonde_gwen

Gwen Stefani’s signature platinum locks
The glam rock goddess has made her platinum hair and red lips her signature look. Whether she opts for retro curls or simple and straight hair, she looks beautiful in both styles.

To get your own platinum locks, it’s best to visit a professional. You can get the look at home, but it’s easy to turn your hair orange or make it spotty. If you do attempt to bleach your hair, make sure you protect your scalp and hair from damage by applying coconut oil to your scalp the night before you bleach. Also, you’ll have to get touch-ups every two to three weeks. Roots will stand out faster against platinum hair.

blonde_jennifer

Jennifer Lawrence’s cute pixie
After shooting The Hunger Game: Catching Fire, J-Law decided to shore her longs locks and try something totally different – sparking a trend for pixie cuts.

To style a pixie cut, blow dry it and scrunch it between your fingers with a little mousse or gel. Tousle it as you go to give it some texture. Sweep your fringe to the side for an effortless yet polished look.

blonde_miley

Miley Cyrus’ faux-hawk
Miley Cyrus has radically changed her image over the last year, and the first step was cutting off her long, brown hair and styling it into a platinum faux-hawk.

To style your own faux-hawk, you’ll need to start with an ultra-short haircut. Apply a shaping cream or wax to the hair and begin pushing it up. Keep working the cream into the hair while you work it up and toward the front of your head. You’ll have a kind of wave forming at the front, then you can grab the top and shape it back.
