Tried And Tested: Zoom Teeth Whitening

As an avid fan of anything new in the world of beauty and ultimately a lover of a quick-fix, when I was offered the opportunity to trial the Phillips Zoom! Teeth Whitening Treatment I jumped at the chance.

Having tried and tested several at-home whitening products (and generally failed), the fact that the procedure was done by a real dentist in a clinic really appealed me. Lots of people aren’t huge fans of going to the dentist but I’ve never had a problem with it. To be honest, the chance to lay back with some funky sunnies on while other people attend to me is something I find quite relaxing. It’s no Swedish massage but, for me, a trip to the dentist is a little luxury.

I visited Quality Dental in North Sydney and was looked after exceptionally well by Dr Luke Cronin and his team. After a quick clean and polish to make sure my teeth were in the their best condition for the whitening process, it was time to take my before photo (below). It seems the years of coffee drinking had actually taken a hold – which I’d somehow been oblivious to.

As I then reclined back in the chair, a paste was applied to my teeth before an LED light that was positioned over my mouth. Basically Zoom uses the light to actively whiten the teeth in short, 15-minute bursts. I’m not going to lie, it was a tad uncomfortable – you can’t really move about at all while the light is on your teeth – but, as I found out later, the results are truly worth it.

The only way I can think to describe the feeling is kind of like an ice cream headache – but in your jaw. Weird, I know. Or possibly a pinched nerve but it passes very quickly.

Having said that, by the end of my second round (the usual treatment in three 15-minute rounds) I’d had enough and was ready to see the results. See the after pic below.

The claim is that treatment can whiten teeth up to 8 shades in 45 minutes. I’m not quite sure whether my transformation was quite up that standard but it was certainly noticeable. Yes, people actually said ‘wow, your teeth look really white’.

What Is CC Cream?

First there was BB and then there was CC, but if you’re finding it hard to tell your vitamin A from your vitamin E, it’s worth spending a little time reacquainting yourself with the basics. If you’re a bit more skin savvy, CC is gold. This hybrid product offering flawless, high-level coverage plus many skincare benefits to amp up your winter skincare regime.

What is a CC cream?

Born and developed in Korea, CC creams, also known as Colour Correcting creams, are the next generation of BB creams or Beauty Balms, which married sheer coverage and skincare benefits together in one clever formula. CC creams take these key benefits to the very next level by delivering more coverage and skincare benefits in a sophisticated multi-tasking solution.

As BB creams took the world by storm, reviews the world over showed that consumers were left confused as to how to use the formulas to achieve the very best complexion enhancing results. CC cream connects flawlessly with the skin, there is no need to fuss and over blend the product.  A quick and swift application works best to smooth and hydrate the surface to reveal a beautiful perfected natural looking skin.

Our fave

Max Factor CC Cream provides intense complexion correction immediately on application, to create a healthy, natural-looking glowing skin statement.

CC cream, skincare, beauty, beauty products, skincare products

Max Factor global creative design director, Pat McGrath, comments:

“The advantage of CC Cream is that you get a sheer finish that looks flawless but not heavy. Try applying it with your fingertips, blending into your skin like you would your moisturiser and then use a touch more formula in areas where more coverage is needed. It really is that simple.”

Max Factor CC Cream is available in 6 shades: Light, Fair, Natural, Medium, Tanned and Bronze.

John Frieda Precision Home Colour Review

I’m not a huge fan of at-home hair colour as a general rule. But I’ve found that as life gets increasingly busy and schedules are more and more packed, the luxury of time seems to slip away. And none more than the amount of time needed to pamper and preen. So, a little touch-up, that’s quick and easy, sometimes has to come between trips to the salon. That said, with Precision Foam Colour by John Frieda, the last thing anyone will be think when they see your hair is ‘there goes another at-home dye job’.

This is the first-ever premium permanent home hair colour that uses foam technology to deliver salon-quality results. Due to my naturally fair hair, I opted for the Extra Light Natural Blonde shade. And I’m not just tooting my own horn when I say the flawless, natural-looking results at home have never been quicker or easier.

The method? Easy peasy. Simply massage the foam into your hair to achieve coverage you thought you could only get from your fave stylist. Luckily, no drips, no stains and damage to my Jimmy Choos.

Face Facts: How To Detox Your Skin

We often talk about detoxing or cleansing our bodies but what about our skin? And, in particular, the skin on our faces that is constantly exposed to the elements. It needs a little love, too. So here are a range of products that you can combine with a night in at home, surrounded by the waft of burning incense and your fave DVD indulgence to detox your skin:

1. Luminesce Youth Restoring Cleanser

skincare, detox, beauty products

This unique facial cleanser with glycolic acid which essentially acts as a mild exfoliant to help detox your complexion by removing impurities from deep within your pores without over-drying your skin. Formulated with carefully chosen ingredients under the expertise of world-renowned dermatologist Dr. Nathan Newman, Luminesce Youth Restoring Cleanser detoxifies your skin without stripping away the essential nutrients or moisture that are needed to support the cell renewal process.

2. Racinne Massaging Facial Cleansing Brush

skincare, detox, beauty products

A cleansing brush for your face? Weird, right? Well, not so. This gem uses 400 movements per minute to get out the gunk that’s trapped deep down in your pores. That build-up not only damages the skin but also keeps skincare products from producing optimal results. The facial cleansing brush removes dead skin cells, impurities and minimises the appearance of visible pores. Just what your skin has been asking for!

3. Ella Baché Detox Aromatique Extra Purifying Corrector Serum

skincare, detox, beauty products

This nifty little product is a part of a powerful new detoxifying and purifying skin care range, by Ella Baché, that combats the harmful toxins in every day life by minimising pores, concealing blemishes and in turn smoothing and clearing skin for a fresh, healthy glow. The shine and sebum-reducing serum soothes and clears blemished skin.

4. Queen B Beauty Queen Tea

skincare, detox, beauty products

Add an internal component to your skin cleanse and detox by drinking a cup of this tea before bed. Its carefully selected ingredients are caffeine-free and antioxidant-rich. These ingredients help eliminate dry skin, whilst aiding in collagen, elastin and scar tissue repair.

You by Sia Skin Care Review

When it comes to having flawless skin, we’s always in search of products that really give us results. From facials and peels, to  cleansers and creams, let’s face it – unless you’re blessed with great genes, it’s often hard to find something that actually works.

So we were excited to trial the new You by Sia skin care range by Sia Hendry, and our glowing skin is proof we are definitely impressed with the results. Even in the heat of summer, our skin has never looked better.

These are products that actually do what they say they will – unlike many other skin care regimes that just don’t seem to hit the mark. Each product has been carefully designed to address even the most difficult to treat skin conditions by combining natural ingredients with high-powered vitamins, peptides and amino acids.

Sia Hendry is the founder and philosophical mind behind Sydney’s Skin and Laser Clinic, You by Sia. The popularity of her clinics (located in Bondi Junction, Sydney CBD and Castle Hill) has skyrocketed, and now, after more than 10 years in the industry, Sia has launched her own premier clinical skin care range – proving incredible results in as little as two weeks. The secret behind the success of the range is that it delivers a skin care maintenance program that works from the inside out. Rather than working on the epidermal layer of the skin, these products reach the deeper layers in the skin through active ingredients and silicone-emulsion technologies.

Let’s go over the range:

You by Sia Delicate Clenz Gentle Cleansing Foam, $89

The Delicate Clenz is a gentle foaming cleanser that foams beautifully, and all you need is one tiny pump. It’s great for all skin types as it doesn’t strip away your skin’s natural protective layer and so it doesn’t feel harsh on the skin, but you still see results. Vitamin E is one of the key ingredients, which works towards nourishing and repairing damage to the skin. It also easily removes makeup and build-up, leaving your skin feeling very refreshed.

You by Sia Intense Clenz Deep Cleansing Foam, $89

Similar to the Delicate Clenz in that one pump is all you need, the Intense Clenz is great for removing any dirt, makeup or skin build-up, and is especially great for the whole body (perfect for traveling). It’s a deeper cleanser than the Delicate Clenz so is recommended for more oily to acne prone skin types, whereas the Delicate Clenz is more suitable for sensitive skin.

You by Sia Release Growth Factor and Peptide Anti-Aging Serum, $225

This was a dream to use, and I actually looked forward to applying it in the mornings and again before bed. It’s a potent cocktail which revives lacklustre skin and plumped out lines, especially on the forehead, laugh lines and around the eyes. Forget hyperbole: this really is better than Botox.

You by Sia  Revive Advanced Therapeutic Balm, $205

I’ve spent years wishing I could wave a magic wand and erase my dark circles for good. Long days and party season don’t help, so you can imagine how excited I was to try a balm that bills itself as a treatment for dark circles. After just a few days, my under eye area looked lightened and fresher. I wasn’t even using concealer on the area, which is unheard of for me. It’s my new beauty BFF.

You by Sia Minc Natural Moisturising Zinc 20%, $80

This product is so light and nourishing on the skin, it’s my new summer must-have. Minc is great because it’s actually a sunscreen, so your skin is protected from  harsh UV rays all day, without feeling like you’re wearing anything too thick or heavy, and  is especially great for under your makeup.

You by Sia Enhance Luxurious Body Enhancing Lotion, $89

After just one night of using the body lotion, the results were incredible. Your skin will just soaked up the moisture, especially on these harsh summer days. It works the deeper layers of the skin, but also leaves the top layer of the skin feeling rejuvenated, firmer and less dehydrated. Hello silky and smooth summer skin!

You by Sia is available exclusively at You by Sia clinics and online at

Top Spring/Summer Nail Trends from NYFW

So many gorgeous nail looks at New York Fashion Week to inspire your next visit to the salon, from barely there blush to the hottest new twist on the classic French manicure.

Barely there blush

The fresh and clean nails at the Reem Acra show are the perfect polished look for spring. Models’ nails were painted in  OPI’s You Callin’ Me a Lyre? a sheer, soft pastel pink hue.

Sidewards French manicure

Designers Katie Holmes and Jeanne Yang trended the hot new sidewards French manicure selecting sheer creamy off-white nude OPI’s So Many Clowns…So Little Time for nails, adding a unique slanted French tip in deep blue in OPI’s I Saw…U Saw…We Saw…Warsaw for a pop of colour.

Classic chic French manicure

Joie’s spring/summer 2014 fashion show was inspired by the Mediterranean and a trip off the Amalfi Coast, with a pretty collection focusing on shades of white, a theme that was carried through to the nails.

Models wore natural nails but given crisp, classic white tips using OPI’s Alpine Snow; nails were then finished with a glossy coat of OPI Top Coat.

Soft neutrals

The fun BCBGMAXAZRIA show, with its ladylike patterns and cuts, was complimented by the perfect soft neutral shade OPI’s Samoan Sand. How pretty will this polish look with a tan?

Which is your favourite spring nail trend?

Top 3 Winter Nail Trends

We’re obsessed with gel polish so we asked Opallac creator Ruby for her top 3 favourite nail trends heading into winter.

Pale nails

Neutrals go with everything and complete a great pared back look for autumn. The demure style was featured far and wide across the catwalks this season with colours varying between soft milky creams, whitest whites and un-done French manis. If you wear one shade this season, let it be a nude.

Play it cool and keep your nails chic, stylish and pick a tone to suit your skin tone.
Recreate the look using Opallac in High Tea, Oh Sandy, French Affair and Soy Capp.

Punk nails

When every celebrity worth watching graced the MET gala red carpet in their finest interpretation of punk, we knew this was a trend to watch. This doesn’t mean chipped nails and boyish colours, the trend has grown and evolved. Shiny, slick black nails are the first port of call but consider deep purples and red hues to make the look more feminine but still sexy. Never be afraid of some nail art with this trend, whether a pop of colour on one nail, some black tips, glitter or embellishment.

Get the look with Black Market and Violet Spark.

Winter warmers

When the weather takes a turn for the worst, bright nails just don’t seem right. Explore the dark side and look for rich, deep colours. This is a great trend if you like a dark nail but find black too harsh, indulge instead with autumn tones. Think deep hued wine colours with some warmth to them. This is the perfect sophisticated look that will go with everything.

Recreate the look with Opallac using Sherry Spark, So Soiree and Shiraz As.

6 Reasons Why We Love Lanolin

We’ve been using lanolin for years – so why is it such a must-have for our skin and lips (the SheSaid office is never without Lanolips 101 Lip Ointment!)? Lanolips founder Kirsten Carriol shares 6 reasons why lanolin is such a fantastic ingredient.

1. It’s a ‘good’ oil

The oils found in lanolin mimic the molecular structure of human skin lipids, which is why lanolin is so effective. Lanolin is one of nature’s wonder skincare ingredients.

2. It’s pure

The exclusive ULTRA Medical Grade Lanolin in Lanolips™ is highly refined and completely clean and pure. It’s hypoallergenic and causes no skin irritations, even in patients with severely compromised skin. Only Lanolips™ has a lanolin this pure.

3. It has history

The use of lanolin in cosmetics and skincare has a history longer than any other ingredient, dating back to 700BC. The ancient Greeks used lanolin as a protectant and emollient.

4.  It’s a super-moisturiser

The ULTRA Medical Grade lanolin in Lanolips™ locks in moisture, holding up to 400% of its weight in water, it acts as a water reservoir for your skin.

5. It’s 100% natural

Lanolin is fragrance free, colour free and naturally glossy, without any chemical additives.

6. It’s vegetarian-friendly

Lanolin is no more cruel to animals than drinking milk, using beeswax, eating honey or even wearing wool.  Lanolin is a by-product of wool washing.

Have you tried lanolin?

5 Minutes With Beauty Blogger Nikki Parkinson

One of our favourite beauty bloggers Nikki Parkinson of Styling You believes you don’t need to spend the big bucks on great beauty products. She shares her handbag must-haves (plus the one red lippie that suits everyone!)

1. What are your top 3 budget beauty buys?

Garnier oil-free BB cream,
NIVEA Pure & Natural Facial Cleansing Wipes andWoolworths Select SPF 50+ sunscreen.

2. Winter is a great time to try a bold lip. What’s your favourite red lipstick that suits all skin tones?

L’Oreal Paris Shine Caresse Lipcolor in 300 (Juliet). It’s got pink undertones so goes on lips for a deep red finish. Love that it’s a gloss hybrid too.

3. Which beauty products are always in your handbag?

Covergirl + Olay pressed powder for touch ups during the day. Maybelline NY Superstay 14Hr Lipstick in Perpetual Peony. It’s my go-to pale pink lip that still pops colour but works also with a smokey eye. Lanolips 101 lip ointment. It keeps my lips hydrated and my cuticles sorted – great for re-applying at traffic lights. NIVEA Invisible for Black and White roll-on deodorant. If I need to re-apply during the day, I don’t want it on my clothes. Invisible Zinc Environmental Skin Protector. I apply sunscreen everyday but I don’t want to get caught out having to spend extra time outside without being able to re-apply.

4. It’s time to ditch that dusty old mascara – what’s the hot new mascara right now?

Maybelline NY Illegal Length Fiber Extensions mascara: I’m loving this for adding the length my eyelashes really, really need.

5. What nail polishes are you wear this autumn/winter?

I do love a dark nail and any shade of black or grey will get my tick but to still give my nails a pop of colour in winter, I reach for Essie’s Aruba Blue. It means that if I’m wearing charcoal and black in my clothes, there is something bright to make the outfit pop.

What are you favourite budget beauty buys?

Nikki has partnered with Woolworths to promote their new full service beauty bar at the Sydney Town Hall Store. The new dedicated area is home to products from some of Australia’s most popular beauty brands including Model Co., L’Oreal, St. Tropez, Essie and much more with specialists from each of the brands providing on-going free professional treatments for Woolworths customers.

How To Choose The Perfect Perfume For You

Looking for a new fragrance but overwhelmed by the choice? We’ve got some expert tips to help you narrow down the choices and find the perfect perfume for you!

Fragrances fall into four main families – Floral, Fresh, Woody and Oriental. To choose a fragrance that suits you, check out this easy guide and pick your personality to match.

Fresh fragrance scents are characterised by fruity, zesty and clean fragrances such as lemon, lime and grapefruit, sea breeze and fresh dew, and give a feeling of effervescence through refreshing, cool and uplifting aromas.

Our pick: Issey Miyake L’eau D’Issey. Whimsical and pure, awakens a feeling of total beauty.

Personality: Fresh, warm, sparkling.

Floral fragrances are the most popular scent. Either pure and flowery or warmed with a touch of spice or fruit for a soft and powdery finish, floral scents consist of mixed bouquets of rose, white peony, gardenia and jasmine with end notes of musk and amber often being popular.

Our pick: Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue. A stunning and irresistibly overwhelming fragrance.

Personality: Joyful, luxe, romantic.

Oriental scents are the most intense family, made from fragrance notes such as vanilla, spicy cinnamon and pepper and can be warm and spicy or soft and powdery.

Our pick: Bvlgari Jasmin Noir. A luminous and sparkling fragrance.

Personality: Mysterious, captivating and feminine.

Woody scents are nutty and spicy with sensual notes of amber, sandalwood, cedar wood and a touch of patchouli.

Our pick: Calvin Klein Euphoria. A favourite, and signature scent for many.

Personality: Sensual, alluring and sophisticated.

What to look for when choosing your perfume…

1. Perfumes are made up of three different notes; a top not, a middle not and a base note. You should always make your fragrance choice according to the base note, as is the scent that lasts the longest.

2. Climate can change the strength and longevity of a fragrance. When it’s hot, opt for eau de toilette, as perfumes will be over powering and when it is cooler choose eau de parfum or essential oils so you can be sure your scent will stay fragrant.?

3. Moisturising your skin will also help your fragrance last longer.

Find your perfect perfume at Cosmetics Fragrance Direct at Uni Hill Factory Outlets in Melbourne.

Your Beauty Detox Routine For 2013

One of our resolutions is to take a more holistic approach to our skin in 2013. Here’s how Sam Sample, creator of animal-environment-everything-friendly Be Genki plans to detox her beauty routine in the new year.

Step 1: Pre-Shower Detox

Start each day with dry skin body brushing, which has an enormous host of benefits including stimulating circulation, increasing cell renewal, cleansing the lymphatic system, strengthening the immune system, and helping to treat cellulite, amongst other things.

Avoid synthetic brushes that can be too harsh and potentially damage your skin, and use the natural, gentle alternative with Bodecare Tampico Dry Body Brush (RRP $35).

Step 2: Shower Detox

In the shower, wash off all the impurities from your skin after dry skin brushing with the AEOS Beauty Body Shower (RRP $18.50). This is a gentle cleansing wash for the body, containing a blend of organic and biodynamic essential oils, plant extracts and the essences of gems and crystals, such as amethyst, turquoise and emerald. It’s rich in rosemary, white birch and gardenia to leave the skin feeling fresh and soft, whilst the scent of lemon myrtle transforms your showering ritual into a refreshing and uplifting experience.

Best yet, AEOS Beauty Body Shower is free from sulphates and other harsh chemicals that can strip the skin of moisture.

Step 3: Post-Shower Detox

What’s lovelier than slathering on a rich body lotion after your shower? The AEOS Beauty Body Lotion (RRP $38) is full of nourishing, organic and biodynamic oils and plant extracts to help hydrate and soothe, leaving the skin feeling soft and smooth. The essences of gems and crystals, such as amethyst, sapphire and emerald will nurture the emotional and spiritual aspects.

Step 4: Finish With A Natural Deodorant

The last little step is a dab of Soapwalla Deodorant Cream (RRP $16) – an all-natural yet powerful deodorant cream that utilises superfine vegetable powders, clays, and lavender, peppermint and tea tree essential oils to absorb moisture, inhibit bacteria, and ensure a long-lasting and highly effective experience. This cult beauty product has won the hearts of natural beauty aficionados throughout the world!

How To Care For Your Cuticles

You may not give your cuticles a second thought, but healthy cuticles can really change the appearance of your hands and nails. We show you how to care for your cuticles in under 2 minutes and share a recipe for natural cuticle oil.

1. Moisturise your cuticles

Start by massaging in a drop of cuticle oil or hand cream into the cuticles.

2. Push back cuticles with an orange stick

Gently push back the cuticles with an orange stick (available at chemists and health and beauty stores for around $1).

3. Remove any hangnails

Use a cuticle clipper to trim any hangnails. Don’t pull or tug, simply trim as needed.

4. Moisturise again

Finish with another cuticle massage using cuticle oil or hand cream. Don’t forget to keep your cuticle oil or hand cream by your bed to moisturise again before going to sleep.

Our favourite products

Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme, $14.95.

The comforting lemon scent makes looking after your cuticles a small luxury. The little tin fits perfectly into your handbag for a quick moisturise on the go.

Lush Helping Hands, $19.50.

This luscious hand cream is packed with essential oils to nourish dry, scratchy cuticles. Plus it’s one of our favourite hand creams and you’l notice the difference to your skin in 1 week.

Nutrimetics Hand & Nail Treatment Creme, $6.90.

This bargain hand and nail cream is non-greasy which I love – not a fan of that slippery feeling especially as you’re looking for your keys in the morning! Plus the formula lifts dead skin cells leaving you with younger-looking hands.

Natural cuticle oil

This oil is cheap and easy to make – make a few extra bottles as they make a great stocking stuffer!

1 part almond oil

1 part jojoba oil

1 part rice bran oil

1-2 drops of essential oil (optional)

Choose a small glass or plastic bottles that has a lid with a tight seal, preferably with a built-in dropper so you can apply the oil easily. You can find these at chemists and craft stores.

Add the first three oils to the bottle and add 1-2 drops of your favourite essential oil if using. We like lavender to calm or orange to invigorate. Screw the lid on tightly and shake to amalgamate the oils. Your cuticle oil is ready to use!

How To Get Perfect Wedding Skin

Big day approaching? Whether you’re the bride, bridesmaid or a guest, it’s never too early to start your skincare regime. Here’s a cost-effective, 3-step from Australia’s favourite anti-ageing skincare brand Dr. LeWinn’s to ensure your skin is beautiful and radiant.

Step 1 (3 months out):

The newest addition to the Dr. LeWinn’s anti-ageing skin care range is Dr. LeWinn’s Reversaderm. Enriched with Vitamin C, Reversaderm consists of five multi-tasking products designed to be used together in a two week treatment cycle. An alternative to more painful and expensive treatments such as microdermabrasion and some chemical peels, this five step system will transform damaged and dull skin revealing a brighter and smoother complexion for the big day.

Step 2 (4 weeks out):

With skin now feeling more nourished and moisturised, Dr. LeWinn’s Line Smoothing Complex range is the perfect way to maintain its radiance. Described as a painless alternative to Botox* the key ingredient of the Dr. LeWinn’s Line Smoothing Complex range is Snap-8 (Acetyl Octapeptide-3) which works to reduce the appearance of expression lines and wrinkles.

Keep skin hydrated using Dr. LeWinn’s Line Smoothing Complex S8 Super Hydrator twice daily, followed by Dr. LeWinn’s Line Smoothing Complex S8 Hydrating Day Cream and Dr. LeWinn’s Line Smoothing Complex S8 Double Intensity Night Cream to intensely hydrate and moisturise. Work the Dr.LeWinn’s Line Smoothing Complex S8 High Potency Treatment Mask into a weekly beauty routine leading up to the upcoming celebration to help instantly smooth and tighten the skin and to maintain a fresh glowing appearance.

Step 3 (on the wedding day):

With the big day finally here, ensure a flawless finish with the Dr. LeWinn’s Skin Perfect anti-ageing cosmetic range. Use Dr. LeWinn’s Skin Perfect Anti-Ageing Primer to prepare the complexion and ensure make up will last the entire day. Follow with an even application of Dr. LeWinn’s Skin Perfect Anti-Ageing Foundation for long lasting, smooth coverage that also helps visibly smooth wrinkles and fine lines, leaving skin looking firmer and more radiant.

For added sparkle, apply Dr. LeWinn’s Skin Perfect Anti-Ageing Illuminiser to the apples of the cheek and blending out towards the ears.

Finally, for an extra velvety finish use Dr. LeWinn’s Skin Perfect Anti-Ageing Pressed Powder and use throughout the day to ensure make up is always in place.

What Are BB Creams? Plus 3 Of The Best

The beauty world is abuzz with love for BB creams. So what are these wonder creams, and are they really as great as they sound? Plus we share 3 of the best BB creams on the market.

BB creams stand for blemish balm, beauty balm or beauty benefit, and they’ve been huge in Asia for years. BB creams are billed as a miracle 5-in-1 product: they cover like a concealer, even out complexion, prime the skin, moisturise and contain SPF. They’re like a tinted moisturiser, but better.

Now they’ve finally hit Australia, so are they really as good as they sound? It depends. If you don’t wear a lot of makeup, you probably don’t need a BB cream – just moisturise and touch up with concealer. But if you like a little coverage, similar to what you get with a tinted moisturiser, you should definitely try BB creams.

Here’s three of the best:

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream, $10

This cheapie has been a favourite of beauty editors around the world since it launched. It smoothes lines and blurs imperfections, so your skin appears luminous. A great price point to try BB creams to see if they’re right for you.

Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42 PA+++, $22

Missha is one of Asia’s best-loved beauty brands, creators of one of the original BB creams. This cream is perfect for making large pores, blemishes and post-acne scars fade away, with the bonus of a super high SPF.

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream, $54.95

Smashbox have been perfecting camera-ready makeup for years, and their BB Cream is no different. It’s incredible for creating a smooth canvas and leaving you with an all-day glow.

Have you tried BB creams? Are you a fan?

SheSaid Loving Right Now

This week we’re loving three new beauty buys which have become staples in our morning makeup regime: an eye illuminating duo pencil, the most amazing cheapie mascara and a better-than-Botox lip plumper!

Face of Australia Impact Curl Mascara, RRP $11.95.

I can never resist a new cheapie mascara, especially one that promises curl and volume! Face of Australia have come up with such an amazing product, it’s replaced by favourite expensive brand as my go-to mascara of choice!

It’s all in the rubber brush, which pulls the lashes out and coats them in a super-rich pigment. Lashes never clump and the curl stays all day. I can’t remember the last time I used my eyelash curler!

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Eye-Illuminating Duo, RRP $35.50
It’s no secret I am obsessed with Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics. I used their makeup at my wedding and have been raving to friends about how amazing the quality of their cosmetics are. So just imagine how excited I was to hear about their latest product, the Eye-Illuminating Duo.

I’ve tried eye brightening pencils before but most just leave me looking even more haggard, with chunky pieces of white glitter around my eyes. Not so with this multi-purpose pencil: one side is matte, which when used on the waterline makes you look instantly refreshed (and even erases evidence of a hangover). The shimmer side is the perfect champagne-nude shade, which I love to dot on the inner eye and under the brow: trust me, this is every makeup artists’ best-kept secret. It’s amazing how much it completes your whole makeup! The formula contains mango seed oil and macadamia nut oil so the pencil never tugs on the delicate eye area, plus like all Youngblood products it’s paraben-free which we love!

Napoleon Love Bite Lip Plump, RRP $28.00.

Oh Napoleon, how do I love thee. You just keep creating all these amazing products, and Love Bite Lip Plump is one of my favourites. This super smooth lip plumper goes on clear with a lovely gloss and right before your eyes, pumps up the volume in your lips. The cinnamon and capsicum pepper stimulate your lips and leave you with a natural, plumped effect. Seriously, who needs Botox?
