Bridesmaids Movie Review

Bridesmaids Movie Review

I didn’t expect to like Bridesmaids – I thought it would be silly chick flick stuff – but I absolutely loved it! And what’s even more unexpected, so did my man!

What I love is that it’s a very modern chick flick of sorts – girls telling it like it is with plenty of rude bits thrown in (once only the domain of guy movies). It’s more The Hangover than 27 Dresses – about time!

I thought it would focus on wedding tantrums and bridezillas but it was much more than that (even though the choosing of the bridesmaid dresses is laugh-out-loud hilarious). It’s about female friendships, jealousy, relationships with men and family, and yes, even finding yourself. The characters are great – from maid of honour Annie (Kristen Wiig, who also co-wrote it) to fellow bridesmaid Megan, Melissa McCarthy of Mike and Molly – she pretty much steals the show. There’s also a great and unexpected cameo appearance from Little Britain’s Matt Lucas.

Bridesmaids has a stack of memorable scenes, and I’d go back just to watch the flight to Vegas scene all over again. It’s a classic. And you’ll never look at wedding favours the same way again after bride-to-be Lillian’s (Maya Rudolph) over-the-top bridal shower.

So grab your girlfriends – whether there’s a wedding in sight for any of you or not – or your man – every man I’ve spoken to who has seen it has loved it! – and go see Bridesmaids this weekend.

Have you seen Bridesmaids? What did you think?
