Cameron Diaz: Marriage Is A Dying Institution

Cameron Diaz isn’t walking down the aisle anytime soon. And she’s happy with that, labelling marriage a dying institution. Is she right?

Promoting her latest film Bad Teacher, she told Maxim magazine: “I think we have to make our own rules. I don’t think we should live our lives in relationships based off old traditions that don’t suit our world any longer.”

The 38 year-old details her matter-of-fact attitude towards relationships in an interview with British Elle. “I think a lot of people are married to people they’re not romantic with any more,” she says. “I just didn’t ever marry anybody that I then had to get divorced from. We break up. We move on.”

Diaz, who most recently dated Justin Timberlake, says she’s got relationships all worked out. “Guys need women who challenge them and don’t let them get away with their sh*t. Women, conversely, need to not be crazy bitches who blow up when their guys tell them something that scares them.”

For now though, she seems to have settled down with New York Yankees baseball player Alex Rodriguez and says “it’s really awesome.”

What do you think? Is marriage a dying institution?
