Camilla Franks’ Singapore Shopping Tips
Camilla Franks’ Singapore Shopping Picks
Singapore has long been celebrated as a shopping paradise, and those in the know always plan to shop-over and stay-over during the Great Singapore Sale (GSS). The annual event which takes place from May 27th to July 24th this year sees prices across the city reduced by up to 70%, allowing you to snap up high-end brands and products at heavily discounted prices.
Camilla frequently travels over for the annual sale:
“I have been to Singapore countless times and I love that the city is always evolving into an even more dynamic and exciting destination. It has so much to offer with its eclectic mix of cultures, vibrant nightlife, mouth-watering cuisine, unexpected gems hidden down the backstreets and not forgetting … the shopping scene is to die for! This is what really inspired me to create the ‘Singapore Weekender Bag’ – it represents some of my favourite elements of Singapore and I hope it inspires Australians to stay-over for the GSS and scratch more than just the surface!” says Camilla.
Camilla’s top shopping tips:
“My top tip would be, travel over for the Great Singapore Sale and spend at least 96 hours there. The sale is the perfect time to access Singapore’s world renowned shopping scene at a fraction of the price – and you don’t just want to stopover as there are so many fabulous things in this city to explore.”
The GSS is not just for die-hard fashionistas, with the sale including electronics, jewellery, toys, beauty and an array of other luxury goods. The premium shopping precincts take centre stage during the GSS, extending their hours, offering unique in-store incentives and adding new sale items each and every week.
Some must-see sale destinations include:
• The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands: designer flagship stores line a Venetian inspired indoor gondola circuit, with high-end stores including Chanel, La Perla and Prada. Don’t forget to check out the ice rink for a cool down after some retail therapy.
• ION Orchard: with eight levels and over 300 stores destined to be on sale, you could spend a whole day in ION. When the GSS shopping gets too much, you can retreat upstairs to Luke Mangan’s restaurant – the delicious Salt Grill.
• Mandarin Gallery: the recently launched mall complex on Orchard Road offers travellers an array of bargains from stores such as Marc by Marc Jacobs and Australia’s own Jones the Grocer on the third level!
• Haji Lane: the destination for unique homewares, local designer clothing and quirky knick knacks, get off the beaten track and explore the enchanting Arab Quarter and score some unrivalled bargains.
