Catherine Zeta Jones Treated For Bipolar Disorder

After dealing with her husband Michael Douglas’ cancer over the last year, Catherine Zeta-Jones has sought treatment for bipolar disorder.

The 41 year-old actress last week spent five days in treatment for the mental illness, reportedly in Connecticut.

“After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check in to a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her Bipolar II disorder,” her rep confirmed in a statement.

“She’s feeling great and looking forward to starting work this week on her two upcoming films.”

In January this year 66 year-old Douglas revealed his cancer was gone after what he described as a “wild six-month ride” of chemotherapy and radiation for a tumour on his tongue.

“The hardest part is seeing his fatigue, because Michael is never tired,” Zeta-Jones told People magazine last year during the cancer battle.

Zeta-Jones also stood by Douglas’ ongoing court battle with ex-wide Diandra, one of the nastiest in Hollywood. The couple divorced in 2000 after 23 years together and Diandra is again back in court now asking for half the actor’s earnings from Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

We wish Catherine all the best in her recovery.
