Celebrity Baby Names
When a celebrity is pregnant I’m always excited to see what weird and wonderful name their child will be graced with. And there have been some corkers. Sometimes it’s almost as if words have been randomly drawn from a lucky dip. So here are some of my favourite strangest celebrity baby names:
Pilot Inspektor
This unusual name is care of Jason Lee, the star of My Name Is Earl. He chose this name for this son because of a song he heard by the band Grandaddy (named He’s Simple, He’s Dumb, He’s the Pilot).
Buddy Bear, Daisy Boo, Petal Blossom Rainbow and Poppy Honey
These are the children of Jamie and Jools Oliver. I suppose it’s no surprise that someone who is so creative in the kitchen could also be so creative with baby names.
Apple
This name belongs to the daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. She revealed that she named her daughter Apple because they are wholesome and sweet.
Bluebell Madonna
Geri Halliwell named her daughter after the precious, rare flower which seemed to fit her daughter perfectly, as well as the famous singer who she loves.
Moon Unit, Dweezil and Diva Muffin
These bizarre names are courtesy of the late musician Frank Zappa and although they sound strange to us, his wife assured everyone that they do have some significance to their family. Funnily enough, when Moon Unit was a musician she released an aptly titled song ‘My Mother Is A Space Cadet.’

Shannyn Sossamon, the actress well known for her role in ‘A Knight’s Tale’ said her and her partner wanted to name their child a word that was special to them, not a name, so they spent hours reading the dictionary trying to find something they liked.
Fifi-Trixibelle, Little Pixie, Peaches Honeyblossom and Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily
These names sound like they have come from a fantasy movie but actually belong to the daughters of the late Paula Yates.
Bear Blu
Unfortunately Alicia Silverstone’s son received honours for being one of the worst celebrity baby names in 2011, along with Mariah Carey who named her son Moroccan.
Moxie Crimefighter
This unusual name is thanks to Penn Jillette (more famously known as Penn in Penn and Teller). Moxie was chosen because it’s unique and “it stands for old fashioned spunk and energy”. Sadly, this child was given the middle name of Crimefighter as a joke.
Harlow Winter Kate and Sparrow James Midnight
These cute names are courtesy of their famous parents Nicole Richie and Joel Madden. Even though the name Sparrow has been used for girls in the past, it’s now becoming popular for boys because of Pirates of the Caribbean’s’ Captain Jack Sparrow.
Zuma Nesta Rock
Although his parents Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have never explained the meaning of his name it is thought that Zuma is named after a beach in Malibu that has significance for her husband and Nesta comes from Bob Marley’s original name – Nesta Robert Marley.
