Cocktail for the Weekend: Mulled Cider

It’s chilly out, so make a pot of boozy mulled cider, light a few candles, curl up with a good book and you’ve got the makings of a very relaxing weekend!


1 litre best-quality apple juice

1 cinnamon stick

1-2 whole allspice berries

1 whole clove

1/2 orange, thinly sliced

1/2 cup dark rum


1. Place all ingredients except for the rum in a large saucepan and bring to a simmer. Turn off the heat and stir through the rum. Divide among individual mugs and serve hot.
