This is pretty fitting for Christmas afternoon. Lunch is over, the oldies are napping or gone home, and the rest of us are keen to party. But the bars are closed so it’s time to put your own bartending skills to the test by recreating some classic cocktails for friends and family. Below are just a few ideas which require 4 ingredients or less.
This classic bourbon recipe is infused with mint leaves for a truly fresh flavour. Combine with one tablespoon of simple syrup to create a thick texture, and mix with ice and water if you prefer your drink on the wild-side.
Anyone who loves the dry taste of gin will love The Alexander – even if you don’t like gin you’re bound to love this drink as well! Combine with a few dark chocolate pieces to infuse the alcohol, then fill a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice cubes. Garnish with fresh strawberry juice or puree for an extra sweet flavour.
One of the classic cocktails born in the early 1800’s, the Old Fashion is still as popular today. Combine your choice of spirit (we recommend whiskey), sugar, and a dash of bitters to complete the drink. A little glazed cherry never hurt!
For the individual who loves their salt, the Margarita is a tasty drink which is super-easy to make. Add tequila, triple sec, and lime juice into a shaker filled with ice. Then simply pour into a cocktail glass rimmed with salt, yum!
