There is no secret to clear skin; other than keeping it simple, and sticking to a consistent routine for both morning and night. It is important to realise that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work for skincare, and trial and error is encouraged – albeit in moderation.

DO: Moisturise daily
Treat your skin to a lightweight, moisturiser to keep everything hydrated for both the morning and night. Sometimes skin can feel a little tight, so it is extremely important to lock-in the moisture, especially after taking a shower, removing makeup, and going to bed.
DON’T: Use face wipes
Actually, as a general rule, don’t tug at your skin whilst removing makeup. Although it can feel like the cosmetics are never going to come off (we’re look at you, mascara), it’s always best to take time with this step. Use a gentle micellar water on a cotton pad, and soak over the skin.
DO: Apply eye cream
It is never too early to start using an eye cream, but it’s important to use a formula recommended for your age. A woman in her twenties should not be using a line-filling formula designed for mature skin – it just doesn’t work like that! Apply a tiny amount (a grain of rice for each eye), and pat into the skin.
DON’T: Rely on natural skincare
Avoid making the mistake of switching to purely organic skincare. A large quantity of these products are made with larger molecules, which the skin finds extremely difficult to break down. Switch up your skincare, and use a few different products from some trusted brands – and always read the ingredients!
DO: Facial oil
Many women who suffer from oily skin think that using a dry oil will only make their skin look and feel tacky. Oils are ideal for all skin types, since they are deeply hydrating, and actually penetrate the skin better than lotions. It is important to incorporate this into your routine a few nights during the week, and use 3-5 drops for your entire face and neck.
DON’T: Try everything at once
While it might be tempting to switch up your skincare routine on the regular, it could leave your skin looking less than perfect. It takes a few weeks to see any visible changes from a new product, and if you’re using more than one at a time, you will never know which is worth repurchasing.
DO: Exfoliate weekly
Depending on your skin type, it is important to exfoliate at least once a week. If you’re using a harsh formula which has the tendency to strip the skin of its natural oils (micro-beads), don’t use this product more than once a week. A gentle, powder-based exfoliator is ideal for women suffering from sensitive skin and redness.
DON’T: Over-work your skin
Sometimes it’s just best to keep it simple, and stick to a standard skincare routine for clear skin. This might involve cleansing, moisturising, and toning with an alcohol-free solution which won’t disrupt super-sensitive skin.
